You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay! Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ You did not make me”? Can the pot say to the potter,“ You know nothing”?

They turn everything upside down. How silly they are to think that potters are like the clay they work with! Can what is made say to the one who made it,“ You didn’t make me”? Can the pot say to the potter,“ You don’t know anything”?

You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker,“ He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

How foolish can you be? He is the Potter, and he is certainly greater than you, the clay! Should the created thing say of the one who made it,“ He didn’t make me”? Does a jar ever say,“ The potter who made me is stupid”?

You have turned things around, as if the potter were the same as the clay. How can what is made say about its maker,“ He didn’t make me”? How can what is formed say about the one who formed it,“ He doesn’t understand what he’s doing”?

You turn things around! Shall the potter be considered as equal with the clay, That what is made would say to its maker,“ He did not make me”; Or what is formed say to him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

Surely you have things turned around! Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay; For shall the thing made say of him who made it,“ He did not make me”? Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding”?

Ye turn things upside down! Shall the potter be esteemed as clay; that the thing made should say of him that made it, He made me not; or the thing formed say of him that formed it, He hath no understanding?

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Your thinking is perverse! Should the potter be regarded as clay? Should the thing made say about its maker,“ He didn’t make me”? Or should the pottery say about the potter,“ He doesn’t understand”?

You turn things upside down! Should the potter be thought to be like clay; that the thing made should say about him who made it,“ He didn’t make me;” or the thing formed say of him who formed it,“ He has no understanding?”

這樣，你必對我說：「他為甚麼還指責人呢？有誰抗拒他的旨意呢？」你這個人哪，你是誰，竟敢向神強嘴呢？受造之物豈能對造他的說：「你為甚麼這樣造我呢？」窰匠難道沒有權柄從一團泥裏拿一塊做成貴重的器皿，又拿一塊做成卑賤的器皿嗎？

你們民間的畜類人當思想；你們愚頑人到幾時才有智慧呢？造耳朵的，難道自己不聽見嗎？造眼睛的，難道自己不看見嗎？

耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：「你起來，下到窰匠的家裏去，我在那裏要使你聽我的話。」我就下到窰匠的家裏去，正遇他轉輪做器皿。窰匠用泥做的器皿，在他手中做壞了，他又用這泥另做別的器皿；窰匠看怎樣好，就怎樣做。耶和華的話就臨到我說：「耶和華說：以色列家啊，我待你們，豈不能照這窰匠弄泥嗎？以色列家啊，泥在窰匠的手中怎樣，你們在我的手中也怎樣。我何時論到一邦或一國說，要拔出、拆毀、毀壞；我所說的那一邦，若是轉意離開他們的惡，我就必後悔，不將我想要施行的災禍降與他們。我何時論到一邦或一國說，要建立、栽植；他們若行我眼中看為惡的事，不聽從我的話，我就必後悔，不將我所說的福氣賜給他們。

耶和華啊，現在你仍是我們的父！我們是泥，你是窰匠；我們都是你手的工作。

禍哉，那與造他的主爭論的！他不過是地上瓦片中的一塊瓦片。泥土豈可對摶弄它的說：你做甚麼呢？所做的物豈可說：你沒有手呢？禍哉，那對父親說：你生的是甚麼呢？或對母親說：你產的是甚麼呢？耶和華－以色列的聖者，就是造就以色列的如此說：將來的事，你們可以問我；至於我的眾子，並我手的工作，你們可以求我命定。

看哪，耶和華使地空虛，變為荒涼；又翻轉大地，將居民分散。

找不着他們，就把耶孫和幾個弟兄拉到地方官那裏，喊叫說：「那攪亂天下的也到這裏來了，
