You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.

You have turned cities into piles of trash. You have pulled down the high walls that were around them. You have destroyed our enemies’ forts. They will never be rebuilt.

以賽亞以大馬色之事、得之默示者、述於左、萬有之主耶和華云、大馬色之邑、將為瓦礫、亞囉耳之邑、將為荒蕪、群羊在彼、或寢或訛、無人驅之、以法蓮之城垣將毀、大馬色、亞蘭國必喪、如以色列族之榮華、歸於烏有。

暴獸嗥於深宮、野犬遊於華殿、其時將屆、其日伊邇。

毀其城垣、使成平地。

昔迦勒底未建國時、其民為野民、亞述人使之雜處、今築崇臺、毀推羅之宮殿、悉為瓦礫。

以塵埃蒙首、哀哭呼曰、大邑以厥珍寶、使操舟於海者富裕、頃刻間、已至貧乏、嗚呼哀哉、

今見驍騎、齊驅並駕。曰、巴比倫城其傾圮乎、其傾圮乎、偶像遭毀、顛躓於地。

爾之城垣、必若初熟之無花果、人一搖撼、果實紛落、爾之民人、無不畏葸、同於婦女、邦國之門必破、敵人入之、爾之關隘、俱焚以火、邑將被圍、當鑿汲道、修城垣、搗土使堅、設陶造瓦、爾在邑中、雖眾於蝗、不可勝數、亦必遘災、有若蠶食、為火所焚、為刃所戮、

大聲呼曰、巴比倫大邑、其傾圮乎、其傾圮乎、今為鬼所居、及一切邪神不潔可憎之鳥樊籠、因巴比倫使諸國飲淫亂鴆酒、天下諸王、與彼行淫、邑事華靡、天下商旅、於以富饒、

掃除巴比倫之邑、變為水澤、蝟集其處。

無石可為屋隅基址、使爾荒蕪、歷代若是。

聚其貨財於衢中、與邑同焚、奉爾上帝耶和華、使其邑永為瓦礫、毋得再建。
