Every kind of service the Israelites were required to give was rigorous.The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of whom was named Shiphrah and the other Puah,“ When you assist the Hebrew women in childbirth, observe at the delivery: If it is a son, kill him, but if it is a daughter, she may live.”

The enemy said,‘ I will chase, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my desire will be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand will destroy them.’But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.
