隨後是七年饑荒肆虐全國，之前的豐收將被忘記。饑荒將非常嚴重，之前的豐收將蕩然無存。

田園荒廢，遍地淒涼，五穀盡毀，再也沒有新酒和油了。農夫啊，你們要憂傷！照料葡萄園的人啊，你們要哀號！因為田間的大麥和小麥全毀了。葡萄樹枯死，無花果樹凋殘，石榴樹、棕樹、蘋果樹等田野的一切樹木枯乾。人間的歡樂消逝了。

對他說：「我們去各地的水泉和河谷，也許可以找到草救活騾馬，不致喪失牲畜。」

你要在夜間起來，在主面前整夜呼求，向祂傾心吐意；你要為餓昏街頭的孩童向主舉手禱告。「耶和華啊，求你看看，你曾這樣對付過誰呢？母親豈能吃自己的孩子？祭司和先知豈能在主的聖所中被殺？

死於刀下的勝過死於饑餓的，後者因田間缺糧而活活餓死。
