到出產的時候，你們要把五分之一給法老，四分可以歸你們自己，做田地裏的種子，做你們和你們家人的食物，做你們那些幼小者的食物。』

人若不為自己的人籌謀，尤其不為自己一家的人籌謀，便是背棄了信仰，比不信的人還壞。

約瑟進去告訴法老說：『我父親和我的弟兄、以及他們的羊羣、牛羣、和他們一切所有的、都從迦南地來了；如今在歌珊地呢。

上帝命令說：「要孝敬父親和母親」；又說：『誹謗父親或母親的，必須死』；你們倒說：『無論何人對父親或母親說：「你可由我得益之物、已經用做獻神禮物了」；這麼一說，他便可以不必敬奉父親或母親！那就是你們竟因了你們的傳統規矩而取消上帝的話了！

他必恢復你的精神，供養你的年老，因為是你的兒媳婦生了他；這愛你的兒媳婦，這對於你比有七個兒子還好的兒媳婦。』
