So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods they had and the rings in their ears, and Jacob buried them under the oak at Shechem.

當天約書亞與民眾立約，在示劍為他們訂立律例和典章。約書亞把這些話都寫在上帝的律法書上，又把一塊大石頭豎立在耶和華聖所旁邊的橡樹下。

但我有一個要求，請你們把搶來的耳環都給我。」原來米甸人屬於以實瑪利族，都戴金耳環。他們欣然同意，便鋪開一件外衣，各自把搶來的金耳環都放在上面，重約二十公斤。此外，還有米甸王的月牙飾物、耳墜、紫袍以及駱駝頸上的金鏈。基甸用這些金子造了一件以弗得聖衣，放在自己的家鄉俄弗拉。後來，以色列人拜那件以弗得，玷污自己，使基甸及其全家陷入網羅。

我要懲罰她，因為她在節日向巴力燒香。那時她戴耳環佩首飾，追逐她的情人，把我忘記。這是耶和華說的。

又把他們鑄造的牛犢熔化掉，磨成粉末撒在水面上，叫以色列百姓喝。

到那日，眾人必把造來敬拜的金銀偶像丟給田鼠和蝙蝠。

你們要拆毀他們的祭壇，打碎他們的神柱，砍下他們的亞舍拉神像，焚燒他們的偶像。

你們要燒毀他們的神像，不可貪圖神像上的金銀，不可將那些金銀據為己有，免得你們因此陷入網羅；因為那是你們的上帝耶和華所憎惡的。

你們必拋棄自己那些鍍金包銀的偶像，把它們當作污穢之物丟掉，對它們說：「去吧！」

亞倫對他們說：「你們去摘下妻子、兒女的金耳環，拿來給我。」百姓就都摘下金耳環交給亞倫。亞倫用這些金耳環鑄造了一頭牛犢。他們說：「以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。」
