扫罗叫百姓起誓说，凡不等到晚上向敌人报完了仇吃什么的，必受咒诅。因此这日百姓没有吃什么，就极其困惫。众民进入树林，见有蜜在地上。他们进了树林，见有蜜流下来，却没有人敢用手取蜜入口，因为他们怕那誓言。约拿单没有听见他父亲叫百姓起誓，所以伸手中的杖，用杖头蘸在蜂房里，转手送入口内，眼睛就明亮了。百姓中有一人对他说：“你父亲曾叫百姓严严地起誓说，今日吃什么的，必受咒诅；因此百姓就疲乏了。”约拿单说：“我父亲连累你们了。你看，我尝了这一点蜜，眼睛就明亮了。

现在你虽然想你父家，不得不去，为什么又偷了我的神像呢？”

说：“众弟兄，请你们不要做这恶事。

拉班带领他的众弟兄去追赶，追了七日，在基列山就追上了。

你仆人中无论在谁那里搜出来，就叫他死，我们也作我主的奴仆。”家宰说：“现在就照你们的话行吧！在谁那里搜出来，谁就作我的奴仆；其余的都没有罪。”于是他们各人急忙把口袋卸在地上，各人打开口袋。家宰就搜查，从年长的起到年幼的为止，那杯竟在便雅悯的口袋里搜出来。

当时拉班剪羊毛去了，拉结偷了她父亲家中的神像。

这就免得有人因我们收的捐银很多，就挑我们的不是。我们留心行光明的事，不但在主面前，就在人面前也是这样。

我所差到你们那里去的人，我藉着他们一个人占过你们的便宜吗？我劝了提多到你们那里去，又差那位兄弟与他同去。提多占过你们的便宜吗？我们行事，不同是一个心灵吗？不同是一个脚踪吗？你们到如今，还想我们是向你们分诉；我们本是在基督里当神面前说话。亲爱的弟兄啊，一切的事都是为造就你们。

以后你来查看我的工价，凡在我手里的山羊不是有点有斑的，绵羊不是黑色的，那就算是我偷的；这样便可证出我的公义来。”

亚伯兰就对罗得说：“你我不可相争，你的牧人和我的牧人也不可相争，因为我们是骨肉。
