They answered,“ We saw clearly that the Lord was with you; so we said,‘ There ought to be a sworn agreement between us’— between us and you. Let us make a treaty with you

And they said, We saw plainly that Jehovah was with thee: and we said, Let there now be an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee,

They replied,“ We have clearly seen how the Lord has been with you. We think there should be an oath between two parties— between us and you. Let us make a covenant with you:

They replied,“ We could plainly see that the LORD is with you. So we decided there should be a pact between us– between us and you. Allow us to make a treaty with you

又叫米斯巴，因為拉班說：「我們分手以後，願上帝親自鑒察我們。倘若你虐待我的女兒，或在她們以外另娶妻子，即使沒人知道，也有上帝在你我之間做見證。」拉班又說：「看我在你我之間立的這石堆和石柱。這石堆和石柱都是憑證，我一定不會越過石堆去害你，你也不可越過石堆和石柱來害我。願亞伯拉罕和拿鶴的上帝，就是他們父親的上帝，在你我之間判斷是非。」雅各便在他父親以撒敬畏的上帝面前起誓，

我要你憑耶和華——掌管天地的上帝起誓，你不會找這迦南的女子做我兒子的妻子。

對於這些事，我們還可以說什麼呢？上帝若幫助我們，誰能與我們對抗？

人總是指著比自己更大的起誓，並用誓言作保證，了結各樣的爭論。

大衛的兒子所羅門鞏固了自己的王位。因為他的上帝耶和華與他同在，使他極其偉大。

你們要被稱為耶和華的祭司，我們上帝的臣僕。你們必享用各國的財寶，誇耀自己擁有他們的財富。

你去就是履行了你向我起的誓，如果我的親族不肯把女子交給你，你也算履行了你向我起的誓。』

他們的後代必享譽列國，子孫必名聞萬邦，看見的人都承認他們是蒙上帝賜福之民。」

欺壓你之人的子孫要向你下拜，藐視你的人要在你腳前跪拜。他們要稱你為耶和華的城，以色列聖者的錫安。

耶和華對約書亞說：「從今天開始，我要使你在以色列人面前得到尊榮，讓他們知道我與你同在，正如從前我跟摩西同在一樣。

自從埃及人波提乏派約瑟管理自己家中一切事務以後，耶和華因為約瑟的緣故而賜福他主人家，使他主人家裡和田間的一切都蒙福。

不要貪愛錢財，要對自己擁有的知足，因為上帝說過：「我永不撇下你，也不離棄你。」

心中的秘密也會顯露出來，便會俯伏敬拜上帝，說：「上帝真的在你們當中！」

所以，那地方被稱為別示巴，因為他們二人在那裡起了誓。他們立約以後，亞比米勒和他的將領非各便回非利士去了。
