那憑着自己講的、尋求自己的榮耀；但那尋求差他者的榮耀的、才是真誠的，在他裏面並沒有不義。

他們所行的一切事，都是要給人看的，因為他們把小匣經文帶加寬了，衣裳繸子加長了。

但是法利賽派中已經相信的、有幾個人起來說、必須給外國人行割禮，並囑咐他們遵守摩西的律法。

有的人宣傳基督、竟是為了嫉妒和紛爭；有的人呢、倒是為了善意。

因為連那些受割禮的、他們自己也不嚴守律法，卻想要叫你們受割禮，好拿你們的肉體來誇口。

耶穌對他們說：『你們在人面前自以為義，上帝卻知道你們的心：因為在人中間高貴的、在上帝面前卻是可憎。

你們禁食的時候、別像假冒為善的人帶着愁容了，因為他們把臉顯得難看，好對人顯出他們在禁食；我實在告訴你們，他們已經收到了他們的賞報了。

他們吞喫了寡婦的家產，還作長禱告來掩飾；這種人必受更重的處刑。』

各人不要單顧自己的事，各人也要顧到別人的事。

這不是說我們敢跟那稱許自己的一些人同列或相比。不過他們拿自己度量自己、拿自己跟自己相比、總是不聰明的。

『所以你施捨的時候，不可在你前面吹號筒，像假冒為善的人在會堂和街上所行的，要向人誇耀着。我實在告訴你們，他們已經收到了他們的賞報了。

你們也是這樣：你們外面向人顯着公義，裏面卻滿有假裝和不法。

我一見他們不依着福音的真理按正直行，就在眾人面前對磯法說：『你既是猶太人，尚且按着外國人的樣子、而不按着猶太人的樣子生活，怎麼倒勉強外國人學猶太人的樣子呢？』

因為有許多人、就是我屢次告訴你們、如今竟流着眼淚告訴你們的：他們的行事為人、就是基督十字架的仇敵。

『你們禱告的時候，不可像假冒為善的人、喜愛在會堂裏、在大街的彎角上、站着禱告，好對人顯明着。我實在告訴你們，他們已經收到了他們的賞報了。
