因为这样的人是假使徒，是诡诈的工人，他们装做基督的使徒。

凭自己讲话的人，是寻求自己的荣耀；但是，寻求那派他来者之荣耀的，他才是真实的，在他里面没有不义。

他们所做的一切事，都是为了给人看：他们把自己的经文盒加宽，把衣服的穗子加长；

但法利赛教派中的一些信徒站起来，说：“必须给外邦人行割礼，并吩咐他们遵守摩西的律法。”

有些人传扬基督固然是出于嫉妒和纷争，但也有些人是出于好意。

事实上，那些受割礼的人自己也不遵守律法。他们要你们受割礼，是为了以你们的肉体夸耀。

耶稣对他们说：“你们就是那些在人面前显示自己为义的，但是神知道你们的心。人看为高贵的，在神面前却是可憎恶的。

“你们禁食的时候，不要像伪善的人那样愁眉苦脸。他们装出难看的样子，好让人看出他们在禁食。我确实地告诉你们：他们已经得到了他们的报偿。

他们侵吞寡妇的家产，又假意做很长的祷告。这些人将受到更重的惩罚。”

每个人不要只注重自己的事，也要注重别人的事。

其实我们不敢把自己与某些自我推荐的人同列或比较。当他们以自己来衡量自己，以自己来比较自己的时候，他们是不领悟的。

所以你施舍的时候，不要在自己前面吹号，像伪善的人那样。他们在会堂里和大街上这样做，是为了要得人的荣耀。我确实地告诉你们：他们已经得到了他们的报偿。

你们也是这样，你们外面对人显出公义，里面却充满了伪善和罪恶。

但我一看见他们的行为不符合福音的真理，就在大家面前对矶法说：“你身为犹太人，如果像外邦人而不像犹太人那样生活，怎么还要强求外邦人像犹太人一样呢？”

其实我过去再三地告诉你们，而现在又流着眼泪告诉你们：有许多人的行事为人，是基督十字架的仇敌。

“你们祷告的时候，不要像伪善的人那样。他们喜爱站在会堂里和十字路口祷告，好让人看见。我确实地告诉你们：他们已经得到了他们的报偿。
