我見其行不端、不依福音之真、遂於眾前語之曰、爾猶太人也、所行既如異邦人、非如猶太人、胡為強異邦人如猶太人乎、

我見其行不正、不遵福音真理、於眾前語彼得云、爾猶太人也、若從異邦、不從猶太人、則又何使異邦人從猶太人乎、

予見若輩之行、不遵福音正道、乃當眾而謂基法曰：『夫汝雖猶太人、起居飲食、猶且從眾、而不復拘泥於猶太俗矣。則又安得強外邦人從猶太俗乎？

When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in front of them all,“ You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs?

I saw what they were doing. It was not in line with the truth of the good news. So I spoke to Peter in front of them all.“ You are a Jew,” I said.“ But you live like one who is not. So why do you force Gentiles to follow Jewish ways?”

But when I saw that their conduct was not in step with the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas before them all,“ If you, though a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you force the Gentiles to live like Jews?”

When I saw that they were not following the truth of the gospel message, I said to Peter in front of all the others,“ Since you, a Jew by birth, have discarded the Jewish laws and are living like a Gentile, why are you now trying to make these Gentiles follow the Jewish traditions?

But when I saw that they were deviating from the truth of the gospel, I told Cephas in front of everyone,“ If you, who are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel Gentiles to live like Jews?”

But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all,“ If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews?

But when I saw that they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all,“ If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?

To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:[ he is] a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.

For the LORD God[ is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good[ thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.

For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying,[ Ye must] be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no[ such] commandment:

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.

But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation.

Let the righteous smite me;[ it shall be] a kindness: and let him reprove me;[ it shall be] an excellent oil,[ which] shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also[ shall be] in their calamities.

Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.But Peter rehearsed[ the matter] from the beginning, and expounded[ it] by order unto them, saying,I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed,[ that] call not thou common.And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as[ he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.

Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.

And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we[ should go] unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.

But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as[ the gospel] of the circumcision[ was] unto Peter;

Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that[ there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him[ it is] unclean.

Forbidding to marry,[ and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.For every creature of God[ is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and[ from] fornication, and[ from] things strangled, and[ from] blood.For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

[ Which stood] only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed[ on them] until the time of reformation.

Open rebuke[ is] better than secret love.Faithful[ are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy[ are] deceitful.

But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
