But I withheld my hand, and for the sake of my name I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

But I kept myself from punishing them at that time. I wanted my name to be honored. So I kept it from being treated as if it were not holy. I did not want that to happen in front of the nations. They had seen me bring Israel out of Egypt.

But I withheld my hand and acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out.

「我為我的名暫且忍怒，為了我的榮耀向你容忍，不將你剪除。看哪，我熬煉你，卻不像熬煉銀子；你在苦難的火爐中，我試煉你。我為自己的緣故必做這事，我豈能被褻瀆？我必不將我的榮耀歸給別神。

但他有憐憫，赦免他們的罪孽，沒有滅絕他們，而且屢次撤銷他的怒氣，不發盡他的憤怒。

就是把你的手縮回，遠離我身；又不使你的威嚴恐嚇我。

耶和華啊，雖然我們的罪孽控告我們，求你為你名的緣故行動吧！我們本是多次背道，得罪了你。

雖然如此，我的眼仍顧惜他們，不毀滅他們，不在曠野把他們滅絕淨盡。

拯救我們的神啊，求你因你名的榮耀幫助我們！為你名的緣故搭救我們，赦免我們的罪。為何讓列國說「他們的神在哪裏」呢？求你讓列國知道，你在我們眼前伸你僕人流血的冤。

耶和華啊，求你因你名的緣故赦免我的罪，因我的罪重大。

耶和華定意拆毀錫安的城牆；他拉了準繩，不將手收回，定要毀滅。他使城郭和城牆都悲哀，一同衰敗。

主啊，求你垂聽！主啊，求你赦免！主啊，求你側耳，求你實行！為你自己的緣故不要遲延。我的神啊，因這城和這民都是稱為你名下的。」

耶和華啊，榮耀不要歸與我們，不要歸與我們；要因你的慈愛和信實歸在你的名下！

我們的神啊，現在求你垂聽你僕人的祈禱懇求，為你自己的緣故使你的臉向荒涼的聖所發光。
