法老見災禍平息了，心又固執起來，不聽摩西、亞倫，正如永恆主所說的。

法老不聽你們，我必下手打埃及，用大判罰、將我的軍隊、我的人民、以色列人、從埃及地領出來。

雖有恩惠待惡人，他仍然不學習公義；在端正之地他還行不正的事，也不重看永恆主的威嚴。

壞事的定案不立刻施刑罰，故此人類的心敢於作壞事。

那時巴比倫王的軍隊正在攻擊耶路撒冷，也攻擊猶大其餘的城市、拉吉和亞西加；因為猶大有堡壘的城只剩下了這兩座。西底家王跟耶路撒冷的眾民立了約，要給他們宣告自由，叫各人送他的奴僕和婢女，希伯來男人和女人、自由出去，誰也不可使任何一個猶大的族弟兄做奴僕；（這事以後有話出於永恆主而傳與耶利米；）

法老心裏頑強，不聽摩西、亞倫，正如永恆主所說的。永恆主對摩西說：『法老心裏固執，不肯讓人民走。

永恆主對摩西說：『你回埃及去的時候，要留意將我交你手裏的一切奇事行在法老面前；我卻要使他的心頑強，他就不讓人民走。

到以下這句話還在說得響的時候：『今日你們如果聽見他的聲音，就不可硬着心，像惹他發怒一樣。』

就不可硬着心，像在曠野惹他發怒時、試探他的日子一樣；

有人告訴埃及王說：『以色列民逃走了。』法老和他臣僕對以色列民的心就變了；他們說：『我們讓以色列人走、不再服事我們，我們作了這事甚麼緣故呢？』

你們列祖卻不肯留心聽從，反而扭轉肩頭，使耳朵沉重而不聽；使心剛硬如金鋼石、不聽從禮節規律和話語、就是萬軍之永恆主用自己的靈所傳達，由從前的神言人經手所發表的；故此有大震怒從萬軍之永恆主那裏發出。

屢次受責罰、仍然硬着脖子的、頃刻間必破敗，無法可治。

人被大炎熱一烤，就褻瀆那有權柄掌管這些災殃的上帝之名，並不悔改而將榮耀獻與上帝。

以法蓮哪，我可怎樣評斷你呢？猶大啊，我可怎樣評定你呢？你們的堅貞就如早晨的雲霧，又如早散的朝露。
