耶和华起了誓，绝不后悔；他说：“你是照着麦基洗德的等级，永远作祭司。”

每一个从人间选出来的大祭司，都是受委任替人办理属神的事，要为罪孽献上礼物和祭物。他能体谅那些不明白而被迷惑的人，因为他自己也被软弱所困。因此，他怎样替子民为罪献祭，也必须照样替自己为罪献祭。没有任何人能为自己取得这尊荣，除非蒙神召唤，就像亚伦那样。同样，也不是基督荣耀了自己成为大祭司，而是曾经对他说“你是我的儿子，我今天生了你”的那一位荣耀了他；正如在另外一处也说：“你是照着麦基洗德的等级做祭司，直到永远。”基督在他肉身的日子里，曾经用强烈的呼号和泪水，向能救他脱离死亡的那一位献上了祈祷和恳求，就因着他的虔诚蒙了垂听。他虽然是儿子，还是从他所受的苦难中，学了顺从。他既然得以完全，就为所有顺从他的人成了永恒救恩的本源，并且被神称为“照着麦基洗德之等级的大祭司”。关于这事，我们还有很多话要说，可是很难解释，因为你们听不进去了。其实从时间来说，你们早就应该做教师了，却还需要有人把神话语的基本原则重新教导你们；你们成了那需要吃奶、而不能吃干粮的人。要知道，凡是吃奶的人，都对称义的道理不熟悉，因为他是个小孩子；不过干粮是给成熟之人吃的——他们经过实践，识别能力得到操练，以致能分辨善恶。

因为他被见证说：“你是照着麦基洗德的等级做祭司，直到永远。”原来，一方面，先前的条例因着本身的软弱和无用，就被废弃了，因为律法没有使任何事物完全；另一方面，一个更美好的盼望却被带来了；藉着这个盼望，我们可以亲近神。再者，所发生的事并不是没有神的誓言保证。就是说，其他人成为祭司是没有誓言保证的，可是耶稣藉着对他说话的那一位是有誓言保证的：“主起了誓，不会后悔：‘你是祭司，直到永远。’”既然如此，耶稣也就成了更美好之约的保证人。那些以前成为祭司的固然人数众多，因为死亡阻止了他们继续留任，但由于耶稣永远长存，就拥有永恒不变的祭司职份；

以上所说的要点是：我们有这样的一位大祭司，已经坐在诸天之上至尊者的宝座右边，他是圣所和真会幕的服事者。这会幕是主所搭建的，不是人所搭建的。每一位大祭司受委任，都是为了献上礼物和祭物；故此，这一位也必须有所献上。既然如此，如果他在地上，就不会做祭司，因为地上已经有照着律法献祭物的祭司。那些祭司所事奉的，是天上事物的模型和影子，就如摩西将要完成会幕的时候，得了神的指示，说：“你要注意，一切都要按照在山上指示你的样式去造。”但如今，耶稣得了更尊贵的服事工作，就像他也是更美好之约的中保那样；这约建立在各样更美好的应许之上。原来，如果那第一个约是无可指责的，就没有寻求第二个约的必要了，因为神指责说：“看哪，时候就要到了！主说，我要与以色列家和犹大家订立新约。这约不像从前我拉着他们祖先的手，在领他们出埃及地的日子里与他们所立的约。因为他们没有持守我的约，我就不理他们——这是主说的。主又说，在那些日子以后，我要与以色列家订立这样的约：我要把我的法则放在他们的意念中，刻在他们的心上；我将要做他们的神，他们将要做我的子民。

他没有父亲，没有母亲，没有族谱，没有年岁的开始，也没有生命的终结，与神的儿子相似，持久做祭司，直到永远。

原来，位分小的从位分大的接受祝福，是毫无争议的事。
