出賣耶穌的猶大看見耶穌被定了罪，感到很後悔，就把那三十塊銀子還給祭司長和長老，說：「我出賣了清白無辜的人，我犯罪了！」他們說：「那是你自己的事，跟我們有什麼關係？」猶大把錢扔在聖殿裡，出去上吊自盡了。祭司長們撿起銀子，說：「這是血錢，不可收進聖殿的庫房。」他們商議，決定用這些錢買下陶匠的地作為埋葬異鄉人的墳場。

摩西見百姓放肆，亞倫縱容他們，使他們成為敵人的笑柄，

猶大用作惡得來的錢買了一塊田，他頭朝下栽倒在那裡，肚破腸流。

亞倫用這些金耳環鑄造了一頭牛犢。他們說：「以色列人啊，這就是把你們帶出埃及的神明。」

你為什麼蔑視我的命令，做出我視為可憎的事呢？你藉亞捫人的刀殺了赫人烏利亞，把他的妻子據為己有。因為你藐視我，把赫人烏利亞的妻子據為己有，從今以後，殺戮流血的事必永不離開你的家。』

於是，他們造了一個牛犢像，向它獻祭，並為自己所做的事沾沾自喜。
