Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin.”

「看啊，我要差遣天使走在你前面，在路上保護你，帶領你平安地到達我為你預備的地方。

因此，所有義人在地上所流的血，就是從義人亞伯的血，直到你們在聖所和祭壇之間所殺的巴拉加的兒子撒加利亞的血，都要歸到你們身上。

不可跪拜它們，也不可供奉它們，因為我——你的上帝耶和華痛恨不貞，我必追討背棄我之人的罪，從父到子直到三四代。

「這邪惡的會眾向我發怨言要到何時呢？我已聽見以色列人對我的埋怨。你們去把我的話告訴他們，『以色列人啊，我憑我的永恆起誓，我必照你們所說的對待你們。你們當中凡登記在冊、二十歲以上向我發怨言的人，必倒斃在這曠野中，除耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞之外，你們無人能進入我起誓應許的那片土地。

我怎能不懲罰他們呢？我怎能不親自報應這樣的國民呢？這是耶和華說的。

耶和華說：「我怎能坐視不理呢？我怎能不懲罰這樣的國家呢？

祂應許要帶領你們脫離在埃及所受的苦難，到迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人，希未人和耶布斯人住的地方，那裡是奶蜜之鄉。』

祂苦他們所苦，親自拯救他們。祂本著慈愛和憐憫救贖了他們，自古以來一直扶持、照顧他們。

但我們呼求耶和華，祂就垂聽了我們的聲音，差遣天使把我們領出埃及。現在我們來到你邊境的加低斯城，

還是你藐視祂深厚的慈愛、寬容和忍耐，不知道祂的慈愛是要引導你悔改嗎？你這樣硬著心不肯悔改等於是為自己積蓄烈怒，上帝的烈怒在祂施行公義審判的那天必臨到你。上帝必照各人的行為施行賞罰。

耶和華回答他說：「我必親自與你同去，使你平安穩妥。」摩西說：「你若不與我們同去，就不要讓我們離開這裡。

我必差遣天使走在你們前面，趕出當地的迦南人、亞摩利人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人和耶布斯人，

我追討以色列人的罪時，要摧毀伯特利的祭壇，將祭壇的角砍落在地。

耶和華，我們的上帝啊，你應允了他們，向他們顯明你是赦罪的上帝，但也懲罰他們的罪惡。
