So Moses went back to the Lord and said,“ Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold.

And Moses returned unto Jehovah, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

除了敬拜我之外，不可為自己製造金銀神像。

第二天，摩西對百姓說：「你們犯了大罪，我現在要到耶和華那裡，也許可以為你們求得赦免。」

「我又俯伏在耶和華面前，四十晝夜不吃不喝，因為你們犯了大罪，做耶和華憎惡的事，惹祂發怒。耶和華向你們發烈怒，要毀滅你們，我非常懼怕。但耶和華再次垂聽了我的祈求。

「不可為自己雕刻神像，不可仿照任何飛禽走獸或水族的樣子造神像，

說：「我的上帝啊，我羞愧難當，不敢抬頭看你，因為我們的惡行滅頂，我們的罪惡滔天。從我們的祖先開始到現在，我們罪惡深重。由於我們的罪惡，我們、我們的君王和祭司都落在外邦君王的手中，被他們殺害、俘虜、搶掠和羞辱，如同今天的光景。

主啊，我們和我們的君王、首領、先祖因得罪了你而滿臉羞愧。

以色列的上帝耶和華啊，你是公義的，所以我們這些餘民今天才得以倖存。看啊，我們在你面前身負罪惡，因而無人能在你面前站立得住。」

摩西在耶和華那裡待了四十晝夜，沒吃也沒喝。耶和華把約的內容，就是十條誡命，寫在石版上。

我們犯罪作惡，行為邪惡叛逆，偏離你的誡命和典章，

以色列人都違背你的律法，偏離正道，不聽從你的話。你僕人摩西的律法書上所記載的咒詛和審判都落在了我們身上，因為我們得罪了你。

在這臨到我們的一切事上，你都是公義的，因為你行事信實，我們行事邪惡。
