And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto Jehovah; peradventure I shall make atonement for your sin.

为我的同胞，就是我骨肉之亲，就算自己受咒诅，与基督隔绝，我也甘心。

或者神回心转意，不发烈怒，使我们不致灭亡。’”

亚伦照着摩西吩咐的把香炉拿来，跑到会众中间，果然，瘟疫已经在人民中间开始了；他就加上香，为人民赎罪。

这样，那两个青年人在耶和华面前所犯的罪很大，因为他们藐视献给耶和华的祭物。

于是，摩西回到耶和华那里，说：“唉，这人民犯了大罪，为自己做了金神像。现在，如果你肯赦免他们的罪，那就好了；如果不肯，求你从你所写的册上把我涂抹吧。”

以温柔劝导那些对抗的人，或许神给他们悔改的心，可以认识真理。

所以我告诉你，她许多罪都蒙赦免了，因为她的爱多；那赦免少的，爱就少。”
