“ Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd,

“ Do not follow the crowd when they do what is wrong. When you are a witness in court, do not turn what is right into what is wrong. Do not go along with the crowd.

You shall not fall in with the many to do evil, nor shall you bear witness in a lawsuit, siding with the many, so as to pervert justice,

“ You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice.

“ You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.

You shall not follow the crowd in doing evil, nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to join together with a crowd in order to pervert justice;

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to turn aside after a multitude to wrest justice:

“ You must not follow a crowd in wrongdoing. Do not testify in a lawsuit and go along with a crowd to pervert justice.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to[ do] evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest[ judgment]:

“ You must not follow a crowd in doing evil things; in a lawsuit you must not offer testimony that agrees with a crowd so as to pervert justice,

“ You shall not follow a crowd to do evil. You shall not testify in court to side with a multitude to pervert justice.

“ You shall not pervert the judgment of your poor in his dispute.Keep yourself far from a false matter; do not kill the innocent and righteous. For I will not justify the wicked.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night.And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness!Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”So they said to one another,“ Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.”Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying:“ The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land.If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us,‘ a land which flows with milk and honey.’Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”And all the congregation said to stone them with stones. Now the glory of the Lord appeared in the tabernacle of meeting before all the children of Israel.

So Pilate, wanting to gratify the crowd, released Barabbas to them; and he delivered Jesus, after he had scourged Him, to be crucified.

Nicodemus( he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them,“ Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”

Because I feared the great multitude, And dreaded the contempt of families, So that I kept silence And did not go out of the door—

My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path;

‘ You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.

You shall not show partiality in judgment; you shall hear the small as well as the great; you shall not be afraid in any man’s presence, for the judgment is God’s. The case that is too hard for you, bring to me, and I will hear it.’

When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying,“ I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.”And all the people answered and said,“ His blood be on us and on our children.”Then he released Barabbas to them; and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

So he said,“ I have been very zealous for the Lord God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed.So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.

Now when the people saw that Moses delayed coming down from the mountain, the people gathered together to Aaron, and said to him,“ Come, make us gods that shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”And Aaron said to them,“ Break off the golden earrings which are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”So all the people broke off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them to Aaron.And he received the gold from their hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf. Then they said,“ This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!”So when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it. And Aaron made a proclamation and said,“ Tomorrow is a feast to the Lord.”

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent.If they say,“ Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;

Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil.

But after two years Porcius Festus succeeded Felix; and Felix, wanting to do the Jews a favor, left Paul bound.

who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.

You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.

and said,“ Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly!See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof.”And they said,“ Stand back!” Then they said,“ This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them.” So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door.

But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

Then Zedekiah the king said,“ Look, he is in your hand. For the king can do nothing against you.”So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the court of the prison, and they let Jeremiah down with ropes. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire. So Jeremiah sank in the mire.

He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God.

“ My Lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon, and he is likely to die from hunger in the place where he is. For there is no more bread in the city.”

“ You shall not pervert justice due the stranger or the fatherless, nor take a widow’s garment as a pledge.

Then He said to me,“ The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of bloodshed, and the city full of perversity; for they say,‘ The Lord has forsaken the land, and the Lord does not see!’

“ Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?”

He will judge Your people with righteousness, And Your poor with justice.

Then the Lord said to Noah,“ Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.

Therefore the princes were angry with Jeremiah, and they struck him and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe. For they had made that the prison.

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed;for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.

Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house.

But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor, answered Paul and said,“ Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem and there be judged before me concerning these things?”

Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah to the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread from the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
