So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers,

天主在教會內所建立者、一為宗徒、二為先知、三為教師、次則聖蹟、異能、醫道賑濟、管理、及各種方言；豈能皆為宗徒、皆為先知、皆為教師、皆施聖蹟、

吾兒當朝乾夕惕忍辱負重、毅然以光大聖道為己任、克盡司鐸之職。

此聖宅、以宗徒先知為基、而有耶穌基督親充隅石；

凡予所諭於爾者、爾亦當教之共守。予日與爾俱、迄於世末。』

然而苟不信之、何由籲之、苟不聞之、何由信之；苟不傳之、何有聞之；苟非奉遣、誰得傳之。經云：『美哉傳報嘉訊者之足音也！』

自有世以來、斯玄妙之旨、未曾啟迪於人。今則已因聖神而明示其諸聖宗徒、及先知先覺之人矣。

故曰：方其上昇、領回眾俘；普天生靈、恩澤是濡。

爾其戰戰兢兢、保身保群；斯群也、即主以其寶血贖得之教會、而聖神之所以立爾為主教、以資督導也。

或長預言、則憑信預言；或善供職、則專心供職；教誨者教誨、

我乃一長老也、曾目擊基督之受苦蒙難、且於來日將顯之光榮、預有其分焉。吾欲憑此資格、為爾中任長老者進一言。望爾等勉為天主羊群之良牧、勿用霸道、當用王道。毋惟利是圖、當以善為樂。勿用高壓手段、凌逼所管教友、當愛之勞之、以身作則、循循善誘、

以資歷論、爾等此時應可為人師矣；而在實際、仍須人教爾等以淺近之教理、一如乳臭兒之未可遽進以乾糧也。

安提阿教區有先知及主講數人、即巴拿巴、西門字尼結、古利奈人路求、分封王希祿之幼侶馬念、及掃羅是已。

嗟爾天廷諸聖、宗徒、先知、今宜懽忻而鼓舞。蓋天主已予以審判、以伸爾之義矣。

邑有基址十二、上書羔羊十二宗徒之名。

愛友乎、爾當猶憶吾主耶穌基督之諸宗徒告爾之言也。

次晨抵凱塞里、訪裴立伯；斐立伯乃夙傳福音者、遂止其宅。彼為七執事之一、
