然曩日爾未識天主、猶為偽神所奴；

爾等前因惡業向與天主睽隔；

切勿縱情恣慾、如異邦不識天主者所為也、凡因縱情、

意志虛妄、理智昏昧、冥頑不靈、而自絕於天主之生命。

對於已亡之人、勿過於哀傷、一如未具望德者之所為；此吾不欲兄弟之不知也。

然則何如？豈謂祭肉足以浼我乎？抑吾目中尚有偶像其物乎？非也！然外教人所祭獻之物、乃獻於魔鬼、而非獻於天主也。吾固不願爾等之與魔鬼有所共享也。

以是予邀汝等相見、與汝等言蓋予之所以鎯鐺被身者、乃為義塞人所共望之事耳。』

爾曹乃先知之後；天主與我祖立約、亦為爾曹。

吾為樹身、爾為樹枝。凡寓乎吾身、而有我寓乎其衷者、必結實繁多。離乎吾、爾將一無所能。

夫天主所許之恩諾、早向亞伯漢為之、『以及其裔。』於此所當注意者、主未曰「及爾眾裔、」一若多數也者；但曰：「以及其裔、」裔一而已、基督是也。故吾曰：主之恩諾既已確立於前、則產生於四百三十年後之律法、又安能廢棄之、而致前諾於無效乎？

我兄弟骨肉者、義塞人也；其名分則屬天主之子女；凡光榮、盟約、律法、禮儀、以及重重恩諾、無一而非其固有之家業；列祖其祖也、依血統而論、即基督亦彼之所出；然而基督者、固萬有共仰、萬世爭誦之造化主也。

惟仁為安宅。惟義乃天梯。『我與僕大維。曾訂一盟誓。「保定爾宗室。皇輿永不替。」』靈蹟燦中天。信義照聖會。天上主獨尊。人間誰能比。赫赫臨天朝。雍雍眾聖侍。浩浩宇宙宰。威儀實大備。全能亦全信。孰敢不敬畏。神威鎮滄海。狂濤應聲止。痛擊拉哈伯。一蹶不復起。掃蕩諸悖逆。端賴大手臂。天地爾所有。乾坤爾所締。北方與南極。莫非爾所紀。他泊與黑門。誦名不勝喜。聖臂具大能。神權無比擬。正直與公平。實為御座址。信義與仁愛。充主之前騎。諳爾福音者。當膺無窮祉。怡怡復欣欣。安步明光裏。樂天緣聖名。條達賴眞理。嶄然露頭角。非主孰能致。

於此可見天主之子女、不以血統為據、而惟恩諾是憑。

但須一心仰望基督作爾聖主。人若問爾、何以懷此望德、則侃侃而對、說明緣由；惟亦須以溫和恭敬之態度為之。

以篤永望；此望也、爾等於福音之真傳中、夙已聞之、且為爾等預儲於天矣。

惟時已臨、今即是矣、凡崇拜聖父者、當以精誠出之、若斯者乃聖父之所眷也。

伏維吾主耶穌基督及天主聖父、既自始寵愛吾人、而惠賜吾人以無窮之慰望、

『諸君、胡為出此、吾亦猶人、稟性與爾無異；傳爾福音、正欲使爾棄絕此等荒謬之事、而歸心於手創天地瀛海萬有之天主。天主昔雖容忍萬邦各行其是、

命其弘宣於萬邦者也。斯玄妙乃無窮景福之寶庫、而光榮希望之靈淵；即寓爾心中之基督是也。

奉吾救主天主、及吾人所仰望者基督耶穌之恩命、而為基督耶穌之宗徒者、葆樂

用示矜憐、於我列祖；以懷聖約、以踐誓許。

予尚有他羊、不屬此棧、亦當引之導之、若輩亦必聽從吾音、終惟一棧一牧。

凡此皆為爾等之益也。爾等之得信奉天主、實賴基督之德、而天主者、則起基督於死者之中、而鍚以光榮者也。是故爾宜堅守信德、一心仰望天主。

撲滅燎原、脫免刀兵、轉弱為強、奮勇作戰、所向披靡、無一而不憑信德也。

天主至誠無妄、又重之以一成不變之誓、與一成不變之諾、其所以慰藉吾人、安定吾人之心者、亦云備矣。

關於祭肉問題、吾人固知偶像皆屬子虛烏有；亦知天主之外更無真神。世之所謂『天神』『地祇、』亦已多矣；而在吾人、則惟有一『神、』即萬物所自、吾人所歸之聖父是已；惟有一主、即萬物所藉以生、吾人所藉以歸之耶穌基督是已。

凡向天父懷此望德者、亦必努力自致聖潔、以期克配聖潔之天父也。

若輩既冥頑不靈、心棄天主、則天主亦愛莫能助、於是聽其昧心恣行、淫邪貪狠、不義充身、乃至鬥殺成性、嫉妒為心、詭詐險毒、讒言詆行、目無天主、傲慢驕矜、敗風壞俗、不順其親、其無知、無信、無義、無仁、亦已甚矣。夫若輩非不知天主之命、凡此惡行、論罪當死、但其非惟以身試之、抑且以策人於惡為樂焉。
