Not only that, but I have seen the wicked approaching and entering the temple, and as they left the holy temple, they boasted in the city that they had done so. This also is an enigma.

我见恶人埋葬，归入坟墓；又见行正直事的离开圣地，在城中被人忘记。这也是虚空。

強梁既沒、出於聖京、葬於塚墓、民遂忘其所行、我觀乎此、等於捕風、

我又見惡人安葬入墓、行正直者反離聖地、為邑人所忘、此亦屬於虛、

Then too, I saw the wicked buried— those who used to come and go from the holy place and receive praise in the city where they did this. This too is meaningless.

I also saw sinful people being buried. They used to come and go from the place of worship. And others praised them in the city where they worshiped. That doesn’t have any meaning either.

Then I saw the wicked buried. They used to go in and out of the holy place and were praised in the city where they had done such things. This also is vanity.

I have seen wicked people buried with honor. Yet they were the very ones who frequented the Temple and are now praised in the same city where they committed their crimes! This, too, is meaningless.

In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they did those things. This too is futile.

So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they are soon forgotten in the city where they did such things. This too is futility.

Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done. This also is vanity.

So I saw the wicked buried, and they came to the grave; and they that had done right went away from the holy place, and were forgotten in the city: this also is vanity.

In such circumstances, I saw the wicked buried. They came and went from the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they did so. This too is futile.

And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this[ is] also vanity.

So I saw the wicked buried. Indeed they came also from holiness. They went and were forgotten in the city where they did this. This also is vanity.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward– and even the memory of them disappears.

The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the reputation of the wicked will rot.

For the wise man, like the fool, will not be remembered for very long, because in the days to come, both will already have been forgotten. Alas, the wise man dies– just like the fool!

But my righteous one will live by faith, and if he shrinks back, I take no pleasure in him.

He went inside and had a meal. Then he said,“ Dispose of this accursed woman’s corpse. Bury her, for after all, she was a king’s daughter.”But when they went to bury her, they found nothing left but the skull, feet, and palms of the hands.

I was glad because they said to me,“ We will go to the LORD’s temple.”Our feet are standing inside your gates, O Jerusalem.Jerusalem is a city designed to accommodate an assembly.The tribes go up there, the tribes of the LORD, where it is required that Israel give thanks to the name of the LORD.Indeed, the leaders sit there on thrones and make legal decisions, on the thrones of the house of David.

“ Now the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.

And when he is carried to the tombs, and watch is kept over the funeral mound,The clods of the torrent valley are sweet to him; behind him everybody follows in procession, and before him goes a countless throng.

I am forgotten, like a dead man no one thinks about; I am regarded as worthless, like a broken jar.

You are the one in whom Israel may find hope. All who leave you will suffer shame. Those who turn away from you will be consigned to the nether world. For they have rejected you, the LORD, the fountain of life.

No one remembers the former events, nor will anyone remember the events that are yet to happen; they will not be remembered by the future generations.

They brought forward false witnesses who said,“ This man does not stop saying things against this holy place and the law.

How often are they like straw before the wind, and like chaff swept away by a whirlwind?
