不過，比以上兩種人更幸運的是那從未出生的人，他們從未見過日光之下各樣的惡行。

并且我以为那未曾生的，就是未见过日光之下恶事的，比这两等人更强。

但那尚未出生，就是未曾见过日光之下所发生之恶事的，比这两种人更幸福。

我並且以為、那未曾生的、就是那未曾經驗過日光之下所發生的壞事的、比這兩種人還好。

但那還沒有出生的人，比這兩者更好，因他沒有見過在日光之下所行的惡事。

且以未生之人、未睹日下所作之惡者、較斯二者為尤愈也、○

又思未生於斯世者、未見斯人之穢行、較生而復死者、尤為幸甚。

較此二者、未生於世、未見日下所作之惡事者更為幸、○

But better than both is the one who has never been born, who has not seen the evil that is done under the sun.

Yet, better than both is he who has never existed, Who has not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

yea, better than them both did I esteem him that hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.

But better than either of them is the one who has not yet existed, who has not seen the evil activity that is done under the sun.

因為日子快到了，人們將說，『不曾生育、不曾懷孕、不曾哺乳的女子有福了！』

人若有一百個兒子，並且長壽，但心中卻從未得到滿足，死後又不得安葬。唉！這樣的人還不如流產的胎兒。這胎兒在虛空中來，在黑暗中去，名字隱沒在黑暗中，沒有見過天日，一無所知，然而這胎兒比那人更享安息。

那時，孕婦和哺育嬰兒的母親們可就遭殃了！

因為那夜沒有關閉我母胎的門，以致讓我看見患難。「為何我不出生時就夭折，出母胎時就斷氣？為何要把我抱在膝上，用乳汁哺育我？不然我早已安然躺臥、長眠安息，與世上的君王和謀臣作伴——他們建造的宮殿已荒廢，與房屋堆滿金銀的王侯同眠。為何我沒有像未見天日就流產的嬰兒一樣消逝？

他們歸入墳墓時非常快樂，欣喜若狂。

你為何讓我出母腹？我不如當時就死去，無人會看見我——好像我從未出生，一出母腹就被送進墳墓。

我觀察一切日光之下所做的事，看啊，都是虛空，好像捕風。

啊，但願我能像鴿子展翅飛去，得享安息。我要飛到遠方，住在曠野。（細拉）我要趕快躲進避難所，避過暴雨狂風。主啊，我在城中看見暴力和爭鬥，求你使他們言語混亂。他們晝夜在城牆上出沒，城內充滿了邪惡和壓迫，毀壞的勢力到處肆虐，恐嚇與欺詐遍佈大街小巷。

真希望我在曠野有棲身之處，以便遠離我的同胞，因為他們是一群不忠不貞之徒。耶和華說：「他們鼓舌如簧，射出謊言，遍地充滿詭詐，毫無誠實；他們行惡不斷，不認我是上帝。

所以，我憎惡生命，因為在日光之下所做的一切都令我愁煩。唉！這一切都是虛空，都是捕風。

因為他沒有把我殺死在母腹中，沒有使母腹成為我的墳墓，讓我永遠留在裡面。為什麼我要從母胎出來，經歷患難和痛苦，在羞辱中度過一生呢？
