我心思維、酌酒以快我身、而心仍為智慧所導、又思持守愚拙、知天下人畢生所行、孰為美善、

我姑以酒為懽、若無智然、而仍不敢失度、庶知人生在世、最樂者何事。

I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly— my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was good for people to do under the heavens during the few days of their lives.

I tried cheering myself up by drinking wine. I even tried living in a foolish way. But wisdom was still guiding my mind. I wanted to see what was good for people to do on earth during their short lives.

I searched with my heart how to cheer my body with wine— my heart still guiding me with wisdom— and how to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was good for the children of man to do under heaven during the few days of their life.

After much thought, I decided to cheer myself with wine. And while still seeking wisdom, I clutched at foolishness. In this way, I tried to experience the only happiness most people find during their brief life in this world.

I explored with my mind the pull of wine on my body— my mind still guiding me with wisdom— and how to grasp folly, until I could see what is good for people to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.

I explored with my mind how to refresh my body with wine while my mind was guiding me wisely; and how to seize foolishness, until I could see what good there is for the sons of mankind to do under heaven for the few years of their lives.

酒使人成為譏諷者，烈酒使人成為喧鬧者；所有因酒而迷失的人，都沒有智慧。

我用心去明白智慧，明白狂妄和愚昧，卻明白了這也是捕風。

聽完了這一切，結論就是：當敬畏神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本份。

利慕伊勒啊，君王不要這樣！君王不可喝酒，掌權者不可貪烈酒；免得他們喝了，就忘記所制定的律例，又在所有困苦人的爭訟上，顛倒是非。

不要醉酒，醉酒帶來放蕩，而要被聖靈充滿：

在人一生虛空可數的日子裡，他如影子逝去，有誰知道什麼對他好呢？又有誰能告訴人，在他之後，日光之下會發生什麼呢？

對人而言，沒有什麼比吃喝並在勞苦中找到快樂更好的了！在我看，這也是出於神的手；

我們一生的日子都在你的盛怒中消逝，我們度盡的歲月如同一聲嘆息。我們一生的日子，是七十歲，如果強壯，可到八十歲；但其中可誇耀的，不過是勞苦愁煩，轉瞬即逝，我們就如飛而去。誰明白你怒氣的威力呢？誰按著你該受的敬畏，明白你的盛怒呢？求你教導我們怎樣數算自己的日子，好讓我們得著智慧的心。

誰有禍了？誰有痛苦？誰有爭執？誰有苦情？誰無故受傷？誰的眼目赤紅？就是那些沉湎於酒，常去找混合酒的人。雖然酒發紅、在杯中閃爍、下咽舒暢，但你不要去看它。酒到盡頭，會像蛇那樣咬你，像毒蛇那樣刺你；你的眼就看見怪事，你的心也吐出荒謬；你就像是躺在海中，也像躺在桅杆頂端，說：「他們打我，我不疼痛；他們擊打我，我也不知道。我什麼時候醒來呢？我還要繼續尋找酒。」

婭比蓋回到納巴爾那裡，看哪，他在家裡擺設宴席，像王的宴席一樣。納巴爾心情好，醉得很厲害，所以婭比蓋無論大事小事都沒有告訴他，直到早晨天亮。

你抓住這個是好的，也不要放手那個；因為敬畏神的人，能兼顧這兩者。

雅各回答法老：「我在世寄居的年日有一百三十年了；我一生的年日又少又苦，不及我祖先在世寄居的年日。」

我知道：人一生中沒有什麼比喜樂和行善更好的；並且，人人吃喝，在一切的勞苦中享受好處——這也是神的恩賜。

我轉去用心了解、探察、尋求智慧和事理，為要明白邪惡是愚昧的、愚昧是狂妄的。

「一個人不能服事兩個主人。他不是厭惡這個、喜愛那個，就是忠於這個、輕視那個。你們不能既服事神，又服事財富。

基督與彼列有什麼相融呢？信的與不信的有什麼關係呢？神的聖所與偶像有什麼相同呢？要知道，我們是永生神的聖所，正如神所說：「我將要在他們中間居住，在他們中間往來；我將要做他們的神，他們將要做我的子民。」「所以主說：你們要從他們中間出來，要被分別出來；不要碰不潔淨的東西，我就接納你們」，
