現今世富足的人呢、你要囑咐他們別存着高傲的心，不要把盼望釘住於財富之無定上，卻要釘住於那將萬物豐豐富富供給我們享受、的上帝；

我知道世人莫如時常歡喜、一生享樂；並且人人喫喝，在他一切的勞碌中經驗經驗享樂，這也是上帝的恩賜。

我所看為美為善之事的、就是人在上帝賜給他一生小小數目的日子裏喫喝，經驗享受他在日光之下勞勞碌碌得來的好處，因為這是他的分。並且每一個人、上帝既賜給他財富資產，上帝也使他有能力可以喫用，能取得自己的分，能在他的勞碌中歡喜快樂：這正是上帝的恩賜。

喂，你只管歡歡喜喜去喫你的飯吧；心裏高興去喝你的酒吧；因為上帝已經喜悅了你的工作。你的衣服要時常潔白；你頭上也不要缺少膏油。儘你虛幻的人生、就是上帝在日光之下、儘你虛幻的年日中所賜給你的，你要同你所愛的妻子享人生之樂；因為那是你的分兒，你在人生中、和你在日光之下所努力的勞碌中、的分兒。

只要在永恆主你的上帝面前喫，在永恆主你的上帝所選擇的地方喫，你和你兒子和女兒、你奴僕和使女、以及在你城內的利未人都喫；你也要因你下手辦的一切事、而在永恆主你的上帝面前歡樂。

若按人的說法，我當日在以弗所跟野獸格鬥，那於我又有甚麼益處呢？死人如果不能得甦活起來，那『我們喫喫喝喝吧，因為明天就死了！』

然後對自己說，人哪，你有許多財物存放着、做許多年的用處；你安逸度日，喫喝快樂吧！」但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

你們要在永恆主你們的上帝面前歡樂，你們跟你們的兒子和女兒、你們的奴僕和使女、以及在你們城內的利未人、都要歡樂，因為利未人不同你們一樣有分有業。

卻未嘗讓自己沒有證據，乃是施行善事，從天上給你們雨水和結果實的節候，將食物和愉快滿足你們的心。』

就是有人、上帝賜給他財富、資產、尊榮，以致他心裏所願的一無所缺；但上帝卻沒有使他有能力可以喫用，反而有外人來喫用：這是虛空，也是厲害的弊病。

青年人哪，你在幼年時快樂吧；在青年日子使你的心高興吧；按你的心所願行的而行，按你的眼所愛看的而看吧。不過你要知道、為了這一切、上帝總要使你受審判。你要從心中除掉苦悶；從肉體上除去艱苦的事；因為年幼和青春都是虛空。

你們若不聽，若不放在心上、不將榮耀歸與我的名，萬軍之永恆主說，我就降咒詛於你們中間；我必咒詛你們的福分；事實上、因你們不放在心上，我已經給以咒詛了。

他又對他們說：『你們去喫肥美的，喝甘甜的，將祭肉分兒送給那不能豫備的；因為今天是我們的主的聖日；你們不要憂愁，因為靠永恆主而得的喜樂、就是你們的力量。』
