In the street the sword will make them childless; in their homes terror will reign. The young men and young women will perish, the infants and those with gray hair.

In the streets their children will be killed by swords. Their homes will be filled with terror. The young men and women will die. The babies and old people will die.

Outdoors the sword shall bereave, and indoors terror, for young man and woman alike, the nursing child with the man of gray hairs.

Outside, the sword will bring death, and inside, terror will strike both young men and young women, both infants and the aged.

Outside, the sword will take their children, and inside, there will be terror; the young man and the young woman will be killed, the infant and the gray-haired man.

在外有刀剑；在内有瘟疫、饥荒。在田野的，必遭刀剑而死；在城中的，必有饥荒、瘟疫吞灭他。

耶和华啊，求你观看，因为我在急难中。我心肠扰乱；我心在我里面翻转，因我大大悖逆。在外，刀剑使人丧子；在家，犹如死亡。

所以，耶和华使迦勒底人的王来攻击他们，在他们圣殿里用刀杀了他们的壮丁，不怜恤他们的少男处女、老人白叟。耶和华将他们都交在迦勒底王手里。

你们却说：“不然，我们要骑马奔走。”所以你们必然奔走；又说：“我们要骑飞快的牲口。”所以追赶你们的，也必飞快。

因为死亡上来，进了我们的窗户，入了我们的宫殿；要从外边剪除孩童，从街上剪除少年人。

我们从前就是到了马其顿的时候，身体也不得安宁，周围遭患难，外有争战，内有惧怕。

至于你们剩下的人，我要使他们在仇敌之地心惊胆怯。叶子被风吹的响声，要追赶他们；他们要逃避，像人逃避刀剑，无人追赶，却要跌倒。无人追赶，他们要彼此撞跌，像在刀剑之前。你们在仇敌面前也必站立不住。

吃奶孩子的舌头因干渴贴住上膛；孩童求饼，无人擘给他们。

夜间，每逢交更的时候要起来呼喊，在主面前倾心如水。你的孩童在各市口上受饿发昏；你要为他们的性命向主举手祷告。耶和华啊，求你观看！见你向谁这样行？妇人岂可吃自己所生育手里所摇弄的婴孩吗？祭司和先知岂可在主的圣所中被杀戮吗？少年人和老年人都在街上躺卧；我的处女和壮丁都倒在刀下；你发怒的日子杀死他们。你杀了，并不顾惜。你招聚四围惊吓我的，像在大会的日子招聚人一样。耶和华发怒的日子，无人逃脱，无人存留。我所摇弄所养育的婴孩，仇敌都杀净了。
