therefore in hunger and thirst, in nakedness and dire poverty, you will serve the enemies the Lord sends against you. He will put an iron yoke on your neck until he has destroyed you.

So he will send enemies against you. You will have to serve them. You will be hungry and thirsty. You will be naked and poor. The Lord will put the iron chains of slavery around your necks until he has destroyed you.

therefore you shall serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger and thirst, in nakedness, and lacking everything. And he will put a yoke of iron on your neck until he has destroyed you.

「『又有一隻大鷹飛來，翅膀寬大，羽毛豐滿。這葡萄樹把根和枝子轉向這隻鷹，渴望得到牠的澆灌。

你們的可憎惡行令耶和華忍無可忍，以致祂使你們的土地一片荒涼，無人居住，被人咒詛，正如今天的情形。

我曾向我的子民發怒，讓我的產業被玷污，把他們交在你手中。你對他們毫不留情，甚至讓老人負極重的軛。

然而，他們必做示撒的僕人，好讓他們體驗事奉我和服侍世上的君王的不同。」

告訴他們，主耶和華說，『有一隻大鷹翅膀寬大，羽毛豐滿，色彩繽紛。這隻鷹飛到黎巴嫩的香柏樹上，折去樹梢，

又說：「人子啊，我要斷絕耶路撒冷的糧源，叫他們焦慮地吃限量的餅，恐懼地喝限量的水。他們必缺糧少水，絕望地面面相覷，因自己的罪惡而滅亡。」

耶利米啊，如果有人問，『為什麼我們的上帝耶和華這樣待我們？』你可以對他們說，『你們怎樣背棄耶和華，在自己的土地上供奉外族的神明，也要怎樣在異地他鄉服侍外族人。』

我心柔和謙卑，你們要負我的軛，向我學習，這樣你們的心靈就必得享安息。

但我們必照所許的願向天后燒香奠酒，正如我們和我們的祖先、君王和官長在猶大各城和耶路撒冷街上所做的一樣。那時，我們食物充足，生活幸福，無災無禍。但自從我們停止向天后燒香奠酒後，我們便一無所有，不斷有人死於戰爭和饑荒。」

我照耶和華的吩咐對猶大王西底迦說：「你們要負巴比倫王的軛，臣服於他和他的人民，這樣你們就可存活。你和你的人民何必死於戰爭、饑荒和瘟疫呢？耶和華要降這些災難給不肯臣服於巴比倫王的國家。

他們必失去我賜給他們的產業，被敵人擄到異鄉做奴隸，因為他們激起了我的怒火，永難熄滅。」

他們即使在本國，在你賜給他們廣闊肥沃的土地上得享你的厚恩，也不事奉你，不離開惡道。今天，我們淪為奴隸，在你賜給我們祖先的土地上，在你讓我們祖先享用其出產和各樣美物的土地上，我們淪為奴隸。因為我們的罪過，這地方的豐富出產都歸給了那些你派來統管我們的王。他們隨意統管我們和我們的牲畜。我們生活在極大的苦難中。

我們的土地被陌生人侵佔，我們的房屋落入外族人手中。我們成了喪父的孤兒，我們的母親成了寡婦。我們喝水要付錢，燒的柴要用錢買。敵人緊追不捨，我們疲憊不堪，不得安歇。為了得到食物，我們向埃及、亞述卑躬屈膝。
