Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent a message to Jeroboam king of Israel:“ Amos is raising a conspiracy against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.

Amaziah was priest of Bethel. He sent a message to Jeroboam, the king of Israel. He said,“ Amos is making evil plans against you right here in Israel. The people in the land can’t stand to listen to what he’s saying.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel:“ Amos is hatching a plot against you right here on your very doorstep! What he is saying is intolerable.

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words,

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

Then Amaziah the priest of Beth- el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

諸牧伯奏王曰、斯人以如此之言、述於斯邑中所遺之武士百姓、使彼喪膽、斯人不求民之利益、利益或作得平康惟求其害、當殺之、

耶利米以主所命者、悉告眾民、其言既竟、諸祭司諸先知與眾民執之曰、爾當死、爾何託主名預言曰、此殿必如示羅、此邑必荒蕪、無人居處、於是眾民集於主殿、欲攻耶利米、猶大諸侯伯聽此事、則自王宮詣主殿、坐於主殿之新門、諸祭司與先知告諸牧伯庶民曰、斯人也、預言斯邑必傾毀、爾親耳所聞、當擬死罪、

耶羅波安建邱壇之室、以不屬利未後裔之凡民、立為祭司、耶羅波安私設節期於八月之望、效猶大節期、上祭壇獻祭、在伯特利亦如斯行、祭所作之犢、又在伯特利為所築之邱壇立祭司、

猶大王約阿施子亞瑪謝十五年、以色列王約阿施子耶羅波安即位為王、都撒瑪利亞、在位四十一年、行惡於主前、不離尼八子耶羅波安、使以色列人陷於罪者之諸罪、

斯事之後、耶羅波安仍不悔改惡行、復以凡民立為邱壇之祭司、有願者則立之、使為邱壇之祭司、

西番亞、主立爾為祭司、以代祭司耶何耶大、督理主殿、使爾執諸狂妄自稱為先知者、囚之於獄、加以桎梏、今亞拿突人耶利米、自稱為先知於爾中、自稱為先知於爾中或作向爾曹述預言何弗斥之、

眾聞此言、心大怒、向之切齒、

既至便雅憫門、有閽長名伊利雅、乃哈拿尼孫示利米亞子、執先知耶利米曰、爾欲降迦勒底人乎、耶利米曰、非也、我不欲降迦勒底人、伊利雅不聽、仍執耶利米、解至侯伯前、侯伯怒耶利米、撻之、囚之於獄、在繕寫約拿單室、蓋眾以此室為獄、

訟之曰、我見此人惑民、禁納稅於該撒、自稱為王基督、

祭司音麥子巴施戶珥巴施戶珥譯即隨處逍遙自在之義為主殿之首宰、聞耶利米述此預言、則撻先知耶利米、加以桎梏、囚於主殿之一門、即便雅憫崇門、明日、巴施戶珥釋耶利米於桎梏、耶利米告之曰、主不復稱爾名為巴施戶珥、乃稱為瑪歌珥米撒畢瑪歌珥米撒畢譯即隨處驚惶之義

耶穌入聖殿、教誨時、祭司諸長及民之長老、就之曰、爾以何權行此諸事、賜爾此權者誰乎、

蓋我儕見此人如癘疫然、震動擾亂天下之猶太人、為拿撒勒異道之黨首領之一、

彼眾曰、我儕不如設謀、坑害耶利米、攻之以詞、勿聽其所言、蓋祭司非失律法、智者非缺謀略、先知非無預言、

我儕非嚴禁爾曹勿以此名訓人乎、乃遍耶路撒冷、傳播爾教、欲以此人之血、歸咎我也、

亞哈見以利亞、則曰、使以色列人遘災者、非爾乎、

今爾曹意謂、能拒主所賜大衛子孫之國、因爾曹之人甚眾、又有金犢偕爾曹、即耶羅波安為爾曹所作以為神者、爾曹驅逐主之祭司、亞倫後裔及利未人、循異邦之習俗、為己擅立祭司、無論何人、牽犢一、牡綿羊七而來行禮、則為祭司、奉事虛無之神、

諸兄曰、然則爾將為我王乎、將轄我乎、故因其夢與言益憾之、
