Do not look to Bethel. Do not go to Gilgal. Do not travel to Beersheba. The people of Gilgal will be taken away as prisoners. Nothing will be left of Bethel.”

Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the Lord, the Everlasting God.

Then Samuel said to the people,“ Come, let us go to Gilgal and renew the kingdom there.”

“ All their wickedness is in Gilgal, For there I hated them. Because of the evil of their deeds I will drive them from My house; I will love them no more. All their princes are rebellious.

and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,

For the terrible one is brought to nothing, The scornful one is consumed, And all who watch for iniquity are cut off—

Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God is with us.”

You shall beget sons and daughters, but they shall not be yours; for they shall go into captivity.

“ Therefore thus says the Lord:‘ Your wife shall be a harlot in the city; Your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by survey line; You shall die in a defiled land; And Israel shall surely be led away captive From his own land.’”

At dawn the king of Israel Shall be cut off utterly.

Though Gilead has idols— Surely they are vanity— Though they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal, Indeed their altars shall be heaps in the furrows of the field.

However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.

He went from year to year on a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah, and judged Israel in all those places.

I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses on the lifeless forms of your idols; and My soul shall abhor you.I will lay your cities waste and bring your sanctuaries to desolation, and I will not smell the fragrance of your sweet aromas.I will bring the land to desolation, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be astonished at it.

Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, Shall be destroyed. The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars; They shall say to the mountains,“ Cover us!” And to the hills,“ Fall on us!”

Those who hate you will be clothed with shame, And the dwelling place of the wicked will come to nothing.”
