我回答他們說：「無論甚麼人，被告還沒有和原告當面對質，對案情還沒有得分訴之餘地，徇人情把他定罪，這不是羅馬人的規矩。」

於是彼拉多出來到外邊向着他們說：『你們拿甚麼控告這個人呢？』他們回答他說：『這個人若不是作惡的，我們就不把他送交給你。』

我呢、卻理會他沒有作過該死的事；並且這個人自己既已上訴了皇帝，我便決定給解送了。

保羅剛要開口，迦流就對猶太人說：『猶太人哪！如果是冤枉事或奸惡的匪類行為，按理我該耐心聽你們；

我父請看，看你外袍的衣邊居然在我手中呢；我既把你外袍的衣邊割下來，又沒有殺害你，那你總可以知道、總可以看清楚、我手中並沒有謀害或背叛了罷。我沒有得罪了你，你竟獵取我的性命要了結它。願永恆主在你我之間判斷是非；願永恆主從你身上為我伸冤；我手卻不加害於你。

關於他的事、原告站起來，並沒有提出甚麼告狀是我所猜想的惡事，不過告他一些關於他們自己敬鬼神之事的問題。又是關於一個已經死了、保羅還指說是活着的耶穌。

永恆主我的上帝啊，我若行了這事，我手中若有不義，我若以惡報那與我友好的人，或無緣無故劫掠與我為敵的人，那就任憑仇敵追趕我、直到追上，將我的性命踐踏於地上，使我的光榮歸於灰塵吧。（細拉）

有人稟報我說、將要有計謀害這個人，我登時打發他到你這裏來，囑咐原告也在你面前告他。』

關於我們所控告他的這一切事，大人自己審問他，便能確知。』
