Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas( called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers.

是故吾儕特派樹德、西拉、俾為爾面述種切。

樹德、西拉原屬先知、復諄諄勉之、藉堅其志；

兄弟鍚爾文、忠實可靠、吾所深知因託其寄爾尺素、以資勸慰、且證明凡此莫非天主聖寵。務望在此聖寵上、屹立不搖。

葆樂則屬意於西拉。臨行、同人為之求主加以寵佑。

引葆樂西拉出曰：『先生、吾當如何、始可望救？』曰：

同人即送葆樂至海濱；而西拉、蒂茂德則仍留於此。

忽地震甚劇、獄基撼動、監門頓啟、囚者鎖鍊自脫。

西拉、蒂茂德自馬其頓來；葆樂傳道益切、力證耶穌即為基督；

眾乃推舉二人、一為若望亦名儒斯多巴色巴、一為馬提亞。

蓄婢者見利源已絕、憤而執葆樂、西拉、扭至市集總管。

葆樂西爾文、蒂茂德、致書於德颯洛尼信奉天主聖父及主耶穌基督之聖教同人曰：

葆樂、西爾文、蒂茂德、致書於德颯洛尼奉天主聖父及主耶穌基督之聖教同人曰：伏願聖寵平安、降於爾等。

聞而信者、自附於葆樂、西拉、虔敬之希臘人歸依者甚眾、貴婦亦復不少；

是夜、同人即送葆樂、西拉赴庇哩亞；既至、共入猶太人之會堂、

並作書付之、書云：『充任宗徒長老之兄弟、敬候安提阿、敘利亞、基利嘉之異邦兄弟。

耶路撒冷宗徒聞沙瑪里民眾領受天主大道、遣伯鐸祿若望二人前往祈禱、

而吾儕則專事祈禱傳道。』眾韙其言、遂選信德篤實、聖神充溢之司諦文、以及斐理伯、伯羅哥羅、尼迦挪、提門巴米拿與安提阿之歸化者尼各老、

因此同心合意推選同人、遣之與吾所敬愛之巴拿巴、葆樂、連袂訪爾。

爾時有自猶太來者、誡諸兄弟曰：『苟不依摩西舊例、領受割禮、則不能蒙救恩。』葆樂、巴拿巴力與之辯。眾乃推定葆樂巴拿巴及其他同道數人、就耶路撒冷之宗徒長老決之；

耶路撒冷教會聞此佳訊、即遣巴拿巴前往安提阿；
