因押尼珥在基遍的戰場上，殺死了他們的兄弟亞撒黑，約押和他的兄弟亞比篩就殺了押尼珥。

大衛問赫人亞希米勒和洗魯雅的兒子約押的兄弟亞比篩，說：“誰願與我一起下到掃羅的營裡去呢？”亞比篩回答：“我願與你一起下去。”於是大衛和亞比篩趁著夜裡到了眾軍那裡。掃羅正躺在軍營的中央睡著了，他的矛插在頭旁的地上；押尼珥和眾軍都躺在他的周圍。亞比篩對大衛說：“今天神把你的仇敵交在你手裡了。現在求你容我用矛把他刺透在地上，一刺就夠，不必再刺。”大衛卻對亞比篩說：“不可殺死他，因為有誰伸手傷害耶和華的受膏者而無罪呢？”大衛又說：“我指著永活的耶和華起誓，他或被耶和華擊打，或死期到了，或下到戰場陣亡了，我在耶和華面前，絕對不敢伸手傷害耶和華的受膏者。現在，你可以把掃羅頭旁的矛和水袋拿來，我們就走吧！”

加利亞的兒子約哈難和在田野的眾將領，都到米斯巴去見基大利，對他說：“亞捫王巴利斯派尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利來殺你，你知道嗎？”亞希甘的兒子基大利不相信他們。後來加利亞的兒子約哈難在米斯巴私下告訴基大利說：“請容我去把尼探雅的兒子以實瑪利殺了，必沒有人知道；為甚麼要讓他殺你，以致集合到你那裡來的所有猶大人都分散，猶大餘剩的人都滅亡呢？”但亞希甘的兒子基大利對加利亞的兒子約哈難說：“你不可作這事，因為你所說關於以實瑪利的事都是謊話！”

我並沒有容許我的口犯罪，咒詛他的性命。我家裡的人若沒有說：‘誰能找出哪一個沒有飽吃他的肉食的呢？’

要尊重眾人，愛護弟兄，敬畏神，尊敬君王。
