The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. The Lord has given the kingdom into the hands of your son Absalom. You have come to ruin because you are a murderer!”

You spilled the blood of a lot of people in Saul’s family. You took over his kingdom. Now the Lord is paying you back. He has handed the kingdom over to your son Absalom. You have been destroyed because you are a murderer!”

他們把伊施波設的頭帶到希伯崙大衛那裡，對王說：「你的仇敵掃羅曾經尋索你的性命，看哪，這是他兒子伊施波設的頭。今天耶和華為我主我王向掃羅和他的後裔報仇了。」大衛回應比錄人臨門的兒子利甲和他兄弟巴納，說：「我指著救贖我性命脫離一切患難的耶和華的永生起誓：曾經有人向我報信說『看哪，掃羅死了』，自以為是報好消息的，我尚且抓住他，在洗革拉把他殺了，作為對他報『好消息』的回報，更何況惡人把義人殺死在義人的家裡、在他自己的床上，我難道不會從你們手中追討殺他流血的罪，把你們從地上除滅嗎？」於是大衛吩咐僕人把他們殺了，砍斷他們的手腳，掛在希伯崙的水池旁邊，然後把伊施波設的頭拿去，葬在希伯崙押尼珥的墳墓裡。
