亦未惜先古之世、以洪水罰彼不虔敬之惡世、惟救傳義道之挪亞等八人、

古時人欲橫流、天主亦不惜使洪水氾濫、僅有宣揚道義之諾厄及同伴七人得濟。

if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;

God did not spare the world’s ungodly people long ago. He brought the flood on them. But Noah preached about the right way to live. God kept him safe. He also saved seven others.

And God did not spare the ancient world— except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.

后来，那个世界被水淹没而毁灭了。

挪亚因为有信心，在上帝指示他未来要发生的事之后，就怀着敬畏的心建造方舟，来救全家的人。他借着信心定了那个世代的罪，并承受了因信而来的义。

“人子降临时的情形将像挪亚的时代，人们吃喝嫁娶，一直到挪亚进入方舟那天，洪水来了，毁灭了他们；

祂还借着圣灵向那些监狱中的灵魂传道，他们就是从前在挪亚造方舟、上帝耐心等候人们悔改的时代中那些不肯信的人。当时进入方舟，从洪水中得救的人很少，只有八个人。

亚当的第七代子孙以诺曾经针对这些人说预言：“看啊！主率领祂千万的圣者一同降临，要审判所有的人，按不虔不敬的罪人所行的恶事和他们亵渎上帝的话定他们的罪。”

人子降临时的情形就像挪亚的时代。洪水来临之前，人们吃吃喝喝，男婚女嫁，一直到挪亚进方舟那天；他们懵然不知，直到洪水来把他们全冲走了。人子降临时的情形也是这样。

难道你要走恶人的古道，步他们的后尘？他们死期未到便已夭逝，他们的根基被洪涛卷走。

耶和华对挪亚说：“你和你一家都进入方舟，因为这个世代只有你在我眼中是义人。洁净的动物，你要每样带七公七母，不洁净的动物每样带一公一母，飞鸟每样带七公七母，叫它们以后可以在地上繁衍后代。因为七天之后，我要在地上降雨四十昼夜，毁灭我所造的一切生灵。”凡耶和华所吩咐的，挪亚都照办了。洪水泛滥的那一年，挪亚正好六百岁。挪亚与妻子、儿子们和儿媳们都进了方舟，躲避洪水。洁净的动物、不洁净的动物、飞禽和地上的一切爬虫，都一公一母成对地到挪亚那里，进了方舟，正如上帝对挪亚的吩咐。那七天过后，洪水在地上泛滥起来。挪亚六百岁那年的二月十七日，所有深渊的泉源都裂开了，天上的水闸也打开了，地上倾盆大雨降了四十昼夜。那天，挪亚与他的儿子闪、含和雅弗，还有挪亚的妻子和三个儿媳妇都进了方舟。所有的野兽、牲畜、地上的爬虫和飞鸟都按种类进入方舟。这些动物都一公一母成对地到挪亚那里，进入方舟，正如上帝对挪亚的吩咐。耶和华关上了方舟的门。

人类在地上逐渐增多，生了女儿。上帝的儿子们看见人的女儿漂亮，就随意选来做妻子。耶和华说：“人既然是血肉之躯，我的灵不会永远住在人的里面，然而人还可以活一百二十年。”从那时起，地上出现了一些巨人，他们是上古有名的勇士，是上帝的儿子和人的女儿所生的后代。耶和华看见人罪恶深重，心中终日思想恶事，就后悔在地上造了人，心里伤痛，说：“我要把所造的人从地上除掉，连同一切飞禽走兽和爬虫都除掉，我后悔造了他们。”只有挪亚在耶和华面前蒙恩。
