他妻子對他說：『你一直持守你的純全？謗讟上帝來死吧。』約伯卻對她說：『你說話就像個不虔不義的傻人在說話一樣。我們由上帝而接受福氣，難道就不接受災禍？』在這一切事上、約伯並沒有以口舌而犯了罪。

他急忙喊叫拿軍器的青年護兵，對他說：『拔刀殺死我吧！免得有人議論我說：「是個婦人殺了我的。」』於是他的青年護兵把他一刺，他就死了。
