他病了很久。過了二年，他的腸子因病重流了出來，他就病死了；他的人民沒有為他燒火，好像從前為他的列祖燒火一樣。約蘭登基的時候是三十二歲；他在耶路撒冷作王共八年；他離世的時候，沒有人哀悼他。人把他埋葬在大衛城裡，可是沒有葬在眾王的陵墓裡。

老先知把他的屍體埋葬在自己的墳墓裡；人們為他舉哀，說：“哀哉，我兄啊！”

以色列眾人要為他舉哀，把他埋葬；屬耶羅波安的人中，只有他可以入葬墳墓；因為在耶羅波安的家中，只有他向耶和華以色列的神顯出善行。

列國的君王都在榮耀中安睡，各在自己的墳墓裡。但你要從你的墳墓中被逐出，好像一根被厭棄的樹枝，你被那些遭刀劍所殺的人掩蓋，就是那些被拋到坑中石頭那裡的人。你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體。你必不得與別的君王同葬，因為你敗壞了你的國，殺戮了你的人民；願那些惡人的後裔永遠不被人提說。

因此，論到猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬，耶和華這樣說：“人必不為他哀傷，說：‘哀哉，我哥哥！’‘哀哉，我姊姊！’人必不為他哀傷，說：‘哀哉，主上！’‘哀哉，尊榮的王！’他像驢子一樣被埋葬，被拖走，拋在耶路撒冷城門外。”
