我主我王啊！以色列舉國拭目以待，等著王來指定誰繼承王位。

我主我王啊，以色列众人的眼目都仰望你，等你晓谕他们，在我主我王之后谁坐你的位。

今以色列族眾所仰者、惟待王明言、我主我王之後、誰踐爾位、

今以色列人眾之目、皆仰望我主我王、待王曉諭我主我王之後、誰坐王位、

My lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, to learn from you who will sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.

You are my king and master. All the Israelites are watching to see what you will do. They want to find out from you who will sit on the throne after you.

現在你要謹慎，因為耶和華揀選你來建造殿宇作聖所。你要堅定不移地去做。」

看啊，這是我在約書亞面前安置的石頭，它有七眼，我要在上面刻上字，並在一天之內除掉這地方的罪。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

耶和華賜給我許多兒子，祂在我眾子中揀選了所羅門，讓他坐以色列的王位，治理耶和華的國。耶和華對我說，『你兒子所羅門必建造我的殿宇和庭院，因為我揀選他做我的兒子，我也必做他的父親。

「耶和華的靈藉著我說話，祂的言語在我口中。

我常常仰望耶和華，因為唯有祂能救我脫離網羅。

我們的上帝啊，難道你不懲罰他們嗎？面對前來攻擊的大軍，我們無力抵擋，不知道該怎麼辦，我們只有仰望你。」

大衛王又對全體會眾說：「我兒所羅門是上帝特別揀選的，但他還年輕，缺乏經驗。建殿的工程浩大，因為這殿不是為人造的，乃是為耶和華上帝造的。

我們要仰望我們的上帝耶和華，如同僕人仰望主人、婢女仰望主母，一直到蒙祂憐憫。

但耶和華對我說，『你殺了許多人，打了很多仗，在我眼前使許多人血灑大地，因此你不可為我的名建造殿宇。你將生一個兒子，我必使他安享太平，不受四圍的仇敵侵擾。他的名字要叫所羅門，他執政期間，我必使以色列太平安寧。他將為我的名建造殿宇，他要做我的兒子，我要做他的父親，我要使他的王朝在以色列永遠長存。』
