Was a man already circumcised when God chose him? Then he should not become uncircumcised. Was he uncircumcised when God chose him? Then he should not be circumcised.

Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision.

For instance, a man who was circumcised before he became a believer should not try to reverse it. And the man who was uncircumcised when he became a believer should not be circumcised now.

然而有几个法利赛派的信徒站起来，说：“我们必须给外族人行割礼，吩咐他们遵守摩西的律法。”

“所以我认为不可难为这些归服神的外族人，

圣灵和我们都同意，不把别的重担加在你们身上，然而有几件事是重要的，

我们听说有人从我们这里出去，说了一些话搅扰你们，使你们心里不安，其实我们并没有吩咐他们。

基督释放了我们，为了要使我们得自由。所以你们要站立得稳，不要再被奴役的轭控制。我保罗现在告诉你们，如果你们受割礼，基督对你们就毫无益处了。我再对所有受割礼的人郑重声明：他有责任遵行全部的律法。

有几个人从犹太下来，教导弟兄们说：“你们若不照摩西的规例受割礼，就不能得救。”保罗和巴拿巴，与他们大大地争执辩论起来。大家就派保罗、巴拿巴和他们中间的几个人，为这个问题上耶路撒冷去见使徒和长老。

在这一方面，并不分希腊人和犹太人，受割礼的和未受割礼的，未开化的人和西古提人，奴隶和自由人，唯有基督是一切，也在一切之内。
