司諦文曰：『父老兄弟、請聽吾言！當吾祖亞伯漢尚在美索不達米亞、未居於哈蘭以前、榮耀之天主顯而語之曰：

雖然、吾人所傳之道、在完善之人視之、乃真智慧也；非斯世之智慧、亦非世上王公大人終歸烏有者之智慧。

兄弟乎、吾人所信仰景慕者、惟在光榮之主耶穌基督。慎毋以勢利之習氣、沾污爾之信仰。

予苟未來施訓於人、其人尚可無咎、今則末由辭其咎矣。凡惡予者、即惡吾父也。予若未在眾前行人所不能行之靈蹟、則彼猶可無咎、今彼既睹之、而依然惡予與吾父也！彼經有云：「人之仇予、非予之辜。」

彼之所以為此者、祇緣未識聖父、亦未識予。

今爾曹所見所識之跛者得以痊復、實由信賴其聖名耳。此人在爾眾之前、能證其康復如常者、惟憑耶穌所賜之信德而已。兄弟乎！吾知爾之所為、誠出無知、有司亦然、

嗟爾諸城。矗爾重闉。嗟爾古戶。高爾閈閎。殷勤迎納。光榮之君。榮君伊誰。全能雅瑋。惟仁無敵。凱旋而歸。嗟爾諸城。矗爾重闉。嗟爾古戶。高爾閈閎。殷勤迎納。光榮之君。榮君伊誰。實維雅瑋。萬有之主。煥焉其輝。

夫薦紳先生、及法利塞人有信之者乎？

我本為褻瀆天主、摧殘教會、倨傲無禮之人、而竟蒙天主之矜憐者、蓋以我當時未有信德、盲目而行耳。

『主已蒙其目、主已頑其心、恐其目有見、恐其心有靈、恐其即回頭、令吾全其生。』此言皆意灑雅有見乎耶穌之榮而發也。然官紳中亦頗有信耶穌者、惟礙於法利塞人、故不敢公然認之、恐被逐於會堂也。蓋若輩之愛慕人爵、有甚乎天爵者焉。

耶穌曰：『予臨斯世、實為黜陟、欲使不見者得見、而自以為明者轉成瞽盲。』適有法利塞人在側、聞之、曰：『吾儕豈亦盲者？』耶穌曰：『苟為盲者、將無罪矣！今爾自以為有見、罪在其中矣！』

願吾兄弟一思其聖召之所在。爾中鮮有世俗之所謂哲人、亦鮮有強有力者、與出身於貴族之人、雖然、世俗所視為愚者、天主則簡拔之、以愧眾哲；世俗所視為弱者、天主則簡拔之、以勝強有力者；世俗所認為卑卑不足道而視若無物者、天主則簡拔之、以毀滅有名無實之徒；

然若輩已冥頑成心、而不可感化矣。即在今日、讀舊約時、此帕猶依然未揭；而不知舊約已因基督而廢棄矣。

若輩乃詰之曰：『爾父安在？』耶穌曰：『爾曹既不識予亦不識吾父。苟能識予、儻亦識吾父矣！』

夫真光入世、而世人以行為邪惡故、獨愛黑暗、而不愛光明；故曰譴在其中矣。蓋行為不正者、必惡真光、而莫敢與之近、惟恐其行為之見燭也。至踐履真道者、自與真光相親、所以彰其所行悉與天主相契合也。』

爾時耶穌又言曰：『頌揚聖父、天地真主！蓋爾隱此道於智巧之人、而啟之於赤子；

耶穌曰：『父乎、眾不知其所為、祈寬赦之。』
