大衛王站起來說：「我的弟兄，我的人民啊，請聽我說。我本想建造一座殿宇安放耶和華的約櫃，作我們上帝的腳凳，我已準備好建造的材料。

大卫王就站起来，说：“我的弟兄，我的百姓啊，你们当听我言，我心里本想建造殿宇，安放耶和华的约柜，作为我神的脚凳；我已经预备建造的材料。

大衛王立而言曰、我昆弟、我民歟、其聽我言、我有意建室、安置耶和華之約匱、而為我上帝之足几、已備具以待建造、

大闢王立、而告民曰、爾為我民、亦我兄弟、宜聽我言、我素志欲建殿宇、置我上帝耶和華法匱、及駐蹕之所、我曾備材、以待經營。

大衛王起立曰、我兄弟、我民歟、宜聽我言、我意欲建殿宇、安置主之約匱、為我天主駐蹕駐蹕原文作足蹬之所、我已備材以待建造、

King David rose to his feet and said:“ Listen to me, my fellow Israelites, my people. I had it in my heart to build a house as a place of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, for the footstool of our God, and I made plans to build it.

King David stood up. He said,“ All of you Israelites, listen to me. With all my heart I wanted to build a house for the Lord. I wanted it to be a place of peace and rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord. The ark is the stool for our God’s feet. I made plans to build the Lord’ s house.

Then King David rose to his feet and said:“ Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for building.

David rose to his feet and said:“ My brothers and my people! It was my desire to build a Temple where the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant, God’s footstool, could rest permanently. I made the necessary preparations for building it,

Then King David rose to his feet and said,“ Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the LORD’s covenant and as a footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build,

Then King David rose to his feet and said,“ Hear me, my brethren and my people: I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it.

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: as for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and for the footstool of our God; and I had made ready for the building.

Then King David rose to his feet and said,“ Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the Lord’s covenant and as a footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build,

Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people:[ As for me], I[ had] in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

King David rose to his feet and said:“ Listen to me, my brothers and my people. I wanted to build a temple where the ark of the LORD’s covenant could be placed as a footstool for our God. I have made the preparations for building it.

Then David the king stood up on his feet, and said,“ Hear me, my brothers, and my people! As for me, it was in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of Yahweh’s covenant, and for the footstool of our God; and I had prepared for the building.

耶和華說：「天是我的寶座，地是我的腳凳，你們要為我造怎樣的殿宇？哪裡可作我的安歇之處？

要尊崇我們的上帝耶和華，俯伏在祂腳凳前敬拜，祂是聖潔的。

大衛住進宮殿後，對拿單先知說：「你看，我住在香柏木建的王宮中，耶和華的約櫃卻在帳篷裡。」拿單對大衛說：「你有什麼想法，就去做吧！因為上帝與你同在。」

主的怒氣像烏雲一樣遮蓋錫安城，祂使以色列的榮美從天上墜下。祂發怒的時候並不顧念自己的腳凳。

這樣，他就不會妄自尊大，違背誡命，他和他的子孫就可以長久統治以色列。

祂說：「這是我永遠的居所；我要住在這裡，因為我喜愛這地方。

王的臣僕也來向我們的主大衛王道喜說，『願王的上帝使所羅門比王更聲名顯赫，使他的國比王的國更強大。』王在床上俯伏敬拜，

大衛下令召集住在以色列的外族人，派他們採鑿建上帝殿用的石頭。大衛預備了大量的鐵，用來做門扇的釘子和鉤子，又預備了不計其數的銅。他還預備了無數的香柏木，都是西頓人和泰爾人給他運來的。大衛說：「為耶和華建造的殿宇必須宏偉輝煌，聞名於世，而我的兒子所羅門年紀還輕、閱歷尚淺，所以我要為這殿預備材料。」因此，大衛在去世前為建殿預備了許多材料。

因為使人聖潔的耶穌和那些得以聖潔的人都出自同一位父親，所以耶穌不以稱呼他們弟兄姊妹為恥。祂說：「我要向眾弟兄傳揚你的名，在會眾中歌頌你。」

大衛奪走哈大底謝侍從的金盾牌，帶回耶路撒冷，又從哈大底謝統治的提巴和均兩座城中奪走大量的銅。後來所羅門用這些銅製造銅海、銅柱及各種銅器。哈馬王陀烏聽說大衛打敗瑣巴王哈大底謝全軍，就派兒子哈多蘭帶著許多金銀銅器去朝見大衛王，向他請安，祝賀他打敗了哈大底謝。因為陀烏常常和哈大底謝交戰。於是，大衛把這些器皿和他從以東、摩押、亞捫、非利士和亞瑪力各國奪來的金銀都分別出來，奉獻給耶和華。

那麼，你們一定要立你們的上帝耶和華揀選的人；必須立你們的以色列同胞為王，不可立外族人。

所羅門又說：「我父大衛曾想為以色列的上帝耶和華建殿，但是耶和華對我父大衛說，『你想為我建殿，這番心意是好的，

大衛住在王宮裡，耶和華使他安享太平，不受四圍的仇敵侵擾。一天，王對拿單先知說：「你看！我住在香柏木造的王宮中，但上帝的約櫃還留在帳篷裡。」

約櫃安放在耶和華的殿中之後，大衛便派人在那裡負責歌樂。

我要向眾弟兄傳揚你的名，在會眾當中讚美你。

『天是我的寶座，地是我的腳凳，你們要為我造怎樣的殿宇？哪裡可作我的安歇之處？

「我不為耶和華找到居所，不為雅各的大能者找到安居之處，必不進家門，不沾床，不睡覺，不打盹。」

看啊，我歷盡艱辛，為耶和華的殿預備了三千四百五十噸金子、三萬四千五百噸銀子和不計其數的銅和鐵。我還預備了木料和石頭。你還要多加預備。

以色列人都聚集到希伯崙來見大衛，對他說：「我們是你的骨肉同胞。從前，即使掃羅做王的時候，率領以色列人出征打仗的仍是你。你的上帝耶和華也曾應許讓你做祂以色列子民的牧者和首領。」以色列的長老都到希伯崙見大衛王，大衛與他們在耶和華面前立約，他們膏立大衛做以色列的王，這應驗了耶和華藉撒母耳所說的話。

雅各聽說約瑟來了，就強撐著從床上坐起來，
