The duty of the Levites was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the temple of the Lord: to be in charge of the courtyards, the side rooms, the purification of all sacred things and the performance of other duties at the house of God.

The Levites had the duty of helping the members of Aaron’s family line. They helped them serve in the Lord’ s temple. They were in charge of the courtyards and the side rooms. They made all the sacred things pure and“ clean.” They also had other duties at the house of God.

For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God.

The work of the Levites was to assist the priests, the descendants of Aaron, as they served at the house of the Lord. They also took care of the courtyards and side rooms, helped perform the ceremonies of purification, and served in many other ways in the house of God.

“ but their duty will be to assist the descendants of Aaron with the service of the LORD’s temple, being responsible for the courts and the chambers, the purification of all the holy things, and the work of the service of God’s temple—

For their office is to assist the sons of Aaron with the service of the house of the Lord, in the courtyards and in the chambers, and in the purification of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God,

because their duty was to help the sons of Aaron in the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts and in the chambers, in the purifying of all holy things and the work of the service of the house of God,

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God;

Because their office[ was] to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Their job was to help Aaron’s descendants in the service of the LORD’s temple. They were to take care of the courtyards, the rooms, ceremonial purification of all holy items, and other jobs related to the service of God’s temple.

For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of Yahweh’s house, in the courts, and in the rooms, and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of God’s house;

耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅統管基利提人和比利提人。大衛王的眾子都在他左右做首領。

其中有兩萬四千人在耶和華的殿裡司職，六千人做官長和審判官，

你們要好好保管，護送到耶路撒冷耶和華殿的庫房裡，要在祭司長、利未人和以色列的各族長面前過秤。」

於是，希西迦下令在耶和華的殿裡預備庫房。他們預備好後，

這事之前，被委派負責上帝殿庫房的以利亞實祭司因與多比雅是親戚，就為多比雅預備了一個大房間，這房間從前用來存放素祭、乳香、器皿，按律法給利未人、歌樂手、殿門守衛的十分之一五穀、新酒和新油，以及給祭司的舉祭。

他對我說：「這些在南北兩面對著聖殿空地的廂房都是聖潔的，供事奉耶和華的祭司在那裡吃至聖的祭物，並放置素祭、贖罪祭和贖過祭，因為這是聖潔的地方。

利未人宰殺逾越節的羊羔，祭司從他們手中接過血，灑在壇上，又剝去祭牲的皮。他們按照宗族把燔祭分給眾人，好使他們按照摩西書上所寫的，把祭物獻給耶和華。獻牛也是這樣。他們按規定用火烤逾越節的羊羔，在鍋裡、罐裡和盆裡煮聖物，然後迅速分給民眾。之後，利未人為自己和祭司預備祭物，因為做祭司的亞倫子孫要繼續獻燔祭和脂肪一直到晚上。

內院十米寬的空地和外院的鋪石地對面有三層高的走廊彼此相對。

又對將自己獻給耶和華、負責教導以色列人的利未人說：「你們把聖約櫃放在以色列王大衛的兒子所羅門建的殿裡，不用再扛在肩上。現在你們去事奉你們的上帝耶和華和祂的以色列子民吧。你們要按宗族和班次，依照以色列王大衛和他兒子所羅門所寫的指示，預備自己。你們要按你們弟兄所在宗族的班次，侍立在聖所，每個班次中要有幾個利未宗族的人。你們要宰殺逾越節的羊羔，潔淨自己，為你們的弟兄做好準備，依照耶和華藉摩西所吩咐的去行。」

廂房是一層疊一層的，共有三層，每層有三十個房間。殿牆週邊有支撐廂房梁木的牆坎，以免梁木插入殿牆中。這些廂房的設計是階梯形的；因此，廂房越往上層越寬，有樓梯自下層經過中層到上層。殿的周圍有突出的平臺，高一竿，構成廂房的根基。廂房外牆厚二點五米，廂房與祭司房之間的空地寬十米。
