All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of the Israelites were also of one mind to make David king.

大衛出去和他們見面，跟他們應對說：『你們若是和和平平地到我這裏來幫助我，我就和你們一心一意；但你們若將我這手無強暴的人騙在敵人手裏，那麼願我們列祖的上帝察看而斷定是非。』那時上帝的靈覆被在那三十個勇士的首領亞瑪撒身上，亞瑪撒就說：『大衛啊，我們是歸你的；耶西的兒子啊，我們是擁護你的；願你平安興隆；願幫助你的也都平安興隆；因為你的上帝幫助着你。』大衛就收留他們，立他們在遊擊隊首領之列。

當你的軍隊出戰的日子，你的眾民都甘心樂意地在聖山上服役；從晨曦初現時你就有了你那青春的朝氣。

屬西布倫能出去打仗、能使用各樣戰器交戰、行伍整齊、對幫助大衛不生二心的、有五萬人。

以色列眾族派到希伯崙來見大衛，說道：『看哪，我們原是你的骨肉。從前掃羅做王管理我們的時候、率領以色列人出入的乃是你。永恆主也曾對你說過：『是你要牧養我人民以色列；是你要做人君來管理以色列。」』於是以色列眾長老都到希伯崙來見大衛王；大衛王在希伯崙永恆主面前和他們立約，他們就膏立了大衛做王來管理以色列。

猶大啊，你弟兄們必稱讚你；你的手必掐住你仇敵的脖子；你父親的兒子們必向你下拜。猶大是個小獅子；「我兒啊，你抓了所抓到的便上山穴去；』他屈身伏着像公獅、像母獅，誰敢惹他呢？權柄之杖必不離開猶大，指揮之棍必不離開他兩腿之間，直到屬他的那位來到，萬族之民都歸順他。

『哦，永恆主啊，求你記得：我怎樣以純全的心忠誠誠地在你面前往來，又怎樣行你所看為善的事。』禱告完了，希西家就大哭一場。

我要將新的心賜給他們，將新的靈放在他們裏面；我要從他們肉體中除掉石頭的心，將血肉的心賜給他們，

所羅門年老的時候、他的妻妾使他的心偏離、去隨從別的神；他的心總不純全全地歸向永恆主他的上帝，不像他父親大衛那樣。

上帝的手也用力在猶大中、使猶大人一心遵行王和大臣們憑永恆主的話所發的命令。
