  • Amos 5:11 - Therefore, because you trample on the poor, and take taxes from him of wheat: You have built houses of cut stone, but you will not dwell in them. You have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.
  • Amos 5:12 - For I know how many your offenses, and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, who take a bribe, and who turn away the needy in the courts.
  • Micah 3:1 - I said, “Please listen, you heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: Isn’t it for you to know justice?
  • Micah 3:2 - You who hate the good, and love the evil; who tear off their skin, and their flesh from off their bones;
  • Micah 3:3 - who also eat the flesh of my people, and peel their skin from off them, and break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as meat within the cauldron.
  • Isaiah 59:3 - For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity. Your lips have spoken lies. Your tongue mutters wickedness.
  • Isaiah 59:4 - No one sues in righteousness, and no one pleads in truth. They trust in vanity, and speak lies. They conceive mischief, and give birth to iniquity.
  • Isaiah 59:5 - They hatch adders’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web. He who eats of their eggs dies; and that which is crushed breaks out into a viper.
  • Isaiah 59:6 - Their webs won’t become garments. They won’t cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of iniquity, and acts of violence are in their hands.
  • Isaiah 59:7 - Their feet run to evil, and they hurry to shed innocent blood. Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity. Desolation and destruction are in their paths.
  • Isaiah 59:8 - They don’t know the way of peace; and there is no justice in their ways. They have made crooked paths for themselves; whoever goes in them doesn’t know peace.
  • Isaiah 59:9 - Therefore justice is far from us, and righteousness doesn’t overtake us. We look for light, but see darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity.
  • Isaiah 59:10 - We grope for the wall like the blind. Yes, we grope as those who have no eyes. We stumble at noon as if it were twilight. Among those who are strong, we are like dead men.
  • Isaiah 59:11 - We all roar like bears and moan bitterly like doves. We look for justice, but there is none, for salvation, but it is far off from us.
  • Isaiah 59:12 - For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them:
  • Isaiah 59:13 - transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
  • Isaiah 59:14 - Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away; for truth has fallen in the street, and uprightness can’t enter.
  • Isaiah 59:15 - Yes, truth is lacking; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Yahweh saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
  • Jeremiah 5:26 - For among my people are found wicked men. They watch, as fowlers lie in wait. They set a trap. They catch men.
  • Jeremiah 5:27 - As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.
  • Jeremiah 5:28 - They have grown fat. They shine; yes, they excel in deeds of wickedness. They don’t plead the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may prosper; and they don’t defend the rights of the needy.
  • Jeremiah 5:29 - “Shouldn’t I punish for these things?” says Yahweh. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
  • Jeremiah 6:6 - For Yahweh of Armies said, “Cut down trees, and cast up a mound against Jerusalem. This is the city to be visited. She is wholly oppression within herself.
  • Jeremiah 6:7 - As a well produces its waters, so she produces her wickedness. Violence and destruction is heard in her. Sickness and wounds are continually before me.
  • Amos 6:1 - Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!
  • Amos 6:2 - Go to Calneh, and see; and from there go to Hamath the great; then go down to Gath of the Philistines. are they better than these kingdoms? or is their border greater than your border?
  • Amos 6:3 - Those who put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near;
  • Micah 7:2 - The godly man has perished out of the earth, and there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; every man hunts his brother with a net.
  • Micah 7:3 - Their hands are on that which is evil to do it diligently. The ruler and judge ask for a bribe; and the powerful man dictates the evil desire of his soul. Thus they conspire together.
  • Micah 7:4 - The best of them is like a brier. The most upright is worse than a thorn hedge. The day of your watchmen, even your visitation, has come; now is the time of their confusion.
  • Micah 7:5 - Don’t trust in a neighbor. Don’t put confidence in a friend. With the woman lying in your embrace, be careful of the words of your mouth!
  • Micah 7:6 - For the son dishonors the father, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house.
  • Hosea 7:1 - When I would heal Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim is uncovered, also the wickedness of Samaria; for they commit falsehood, and the thief enters in, and the gang of robbers ravages outside.
  • Ezekiel 22:25 - There is a conspiracy of her prophets within it, like a roaring lion ravening the prey. They have devoured souls. They take treasure and precious things. They have made many widows within it.
  • Ezekiel 22:26 - Her priests have done violence to my law, and have profaned my holy things. They have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hidden their eyes from my Sabbaths. So I am profaned among them.
  • Ezekiel 22:27 - Her princes within it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, and to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.
  • Ezekiel 22:28 - Her prophets have plastered for them with whitewash, seeing false visions, and divining lies to them, saying, ‘The Lord Yahweh says,’ when Yahweh has not spoken.
  • Ezekiel 22:29 - The people of the land have used oppression and exercised robbery. Yes, they have troubled the poor and needy, and have oppressed the foreigner wrongfully.
  • Hosea 4:1 - Hear Yahweh’s word, you children of Israel; for Yahweh has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.
  • Hosea 4:2 - There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.
  • Isaiah 3:8 - For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against Yahweh, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
  • Isaiah 5:7 - For the vineyard of Yahweh of Armies is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for justice, but, behold, oppression; for righteousness, but, behold, a cry of distress.
  • Jeremiah 9:2 - Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
  • Jeremiah 9:3 - “They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood. They have grown strong in the land, but not for truth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me,” says Yahweh.
  • Jeremiah 9:4 - “Everyone beware of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go around like a slanderer.
  • Jeremiah 9:5 - Friends deceive each other, and will not speak the truth. They have taught their tongue to speak lies. They weary themselves commiting iniquity.
  • Jeremiah 9:6 - Your habitation is in the middle of deceit. Through deceit, they refuse to know me,” says Yahweh.
  • Micah 2:1 - Woe to those who devise iniquity and work evil on their beds! When the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand.
  • Micah 2:2 - They covet fields, and seize them; and houses, and take them away: and they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.
  • Isaiah 1:23 - Your princes are rebellious and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes and follows after rewards. They don’t defend the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.
  • Jeremiah 9:8 - Their tongue is a deadly arrow. It speaks deceit. One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart, he waits to ambush him.
  • Hosea 7:13 - Woe to them! For they have wandered from me. Destruction to them! For they have trespassed against me. Though I would redeem them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
