  • Romans 14:7 - None of us lives for himself [for his own benefit, but for the Lord], and none of us dies for himself [but for the Lord].

  • Romans 14:17 - for the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking [what one likes], but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
  • Romans 14:18 - For the one who serves Christ in this way [recognizing that food choice is secondary] is acceptable to God and is approved by men.
  • Romans 14:19 - So then, let us pursue [with enthusiasm] the things which make for peace and the building up of one another [things which lead to spiritual growth].

  • Luke 6:35 - But love [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for] your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; for your reward will be great (rich, abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High; because He Himself is kind and gracious and good to the ungrateful and the wicked.
  • Galatians 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
  • Psalms 120:6 - Too long my soul has had its dwelling With those who hate peace.
  • Romans 12:18 - If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
  • James 3:16 - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder [unrest, rebellion] and every evil thing and morally degrading practice.
  • James 3:17 - But the wisdom from above is first pure [morally and spiritually undefiled], then peace-loving [courteous, considerate], gentle, reasonable [and willing to listen], full of compassion and good fruits. It is unwavering, without [self-righteous] hypocrisy [and self-serving guile].
  • James 3:18 - And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals].
  • Hebrews 12:14 - Continually pursue peace with everyone, and the sanctification without which no one will [ever] see the Lord.
