Those people had received the mark of the beast and had worshiped its statue. The beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the lake of fire. The lake of fire burns with sulfur.

  • 2 Chronicles 10:16 - All the Israelites saw that the king refused to listen to them. So they answered the king. They said, “We don’t have any share in David’s royal family. We don’t have any share in Jesse’s son. People of Israel, let’s go back to our homes. David’s royal family, take care of your own kingdom!” So all the Israelites went home.

  • 2 Samuel 13:28 - Absalom ordered his men, “Listen! When Amnon has had too much wine to drink, I’ll say to you, ‘Strike Amnon down.’ When I do, kill him. Don’t be afraid. I’ve given you an order, haven’t I? Be strong and brave.”

  • Jude 1:16 - These people complain and find fault with others. They follow their own evil desires. They brag about themselves. They praise others to get what they want.
  • Jude 1:17 - Dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said would happen.
  • Jude 1:18 - They told you, “In the last days, some people will make fun of the truth. They will follow their own ungodly desires.”
  • Matthew 12:24 - The Pharisees heard this. So they said, “This fellow drives out demons by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons.”
  • Acts 20:30 - Even men from your own people will rise up and twist the truth. They want to get the believers to follow them.
  • Revelation 12:9 - The great dragon was thrown down to the earth, and his angels with him. The dragon is that old serpent called the devil, or Satan. He leads the whole world astray.
  • Revelation 13:1 - The dragon stood on the seashore. I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads. There were ten crowns on its horns. On each head was an evil name that brought shame to God.
  • Revelation 13:2 - The beast I saw looked like a leopard. But it had feet like a bear and a mouth like a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power, his throne, and great authority.
  • Revelation 13:3 - One of the beast’s heads seemed to have had a deadly wound. But the wound had been healed. The whole world was amazed and followed the beast.
  • Revelation 13:4 - People worshiped the dragon, because he had given authority to the beast. They also worshiped the beast. They asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can make war against it?”
  • Revelation 13:5 - The beast was given a mouth to brag and speak evil things against God. The beast was allowed to use its authority for 42 months.
  • 2 Peter 3:3 - Most of all, here is what you must understand. In the last days people will make fun of the truth. They will laugh at it. They will follow their own evil desires.
  • Psalm 64:3 - They make their tongues like sharp swords. They aim their mean words like deadly arrows.
  • 2 Peter 2:1 - But there were also false prophets among the people. In the same way there will be false teachers among you. In secret they will bring in teachings that will destroy you. They will even turn against the Lord and Master who died to pay for their sins. So they will quickly destroy themselves.
  • 2 Peter 2:2 - Many people will follow their lead. These people will do the same evil things the false teachers do. They will cause people to think badly about the way of truth.
  • Romans 3:13 - “Their throats are like open graves. With their tongues they tell lies.” ( Psalm 5:9 ) “The words from their lips are like the poison of a snake.” ( Psalm 140:3 )
  • Romans 3:14 - “Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness.” ( Psalm 10:7 )
  • Proverbs 26:20 - If you don’t have wood, your fire goes out. If you don’t talk about others, arguing dies down.
  • Proverbs 26:21 - Coal glows, and wood burns. And a person who argues stirs up conflict.
  • Judges 16:15 - Then she said to him, “How can you say, ‘I love you’? You won’t even share your secret with me. This is the third time you have made me look foolish. And you still haven’t told me the secret of why you are so strong.”
  • Judges 16:16 - She continued to pester him day after day. She nagged him until he was sick and tired of it.
  • Judges 16:17 - So he told her everything. He said, “My hair has never been cut. That’s because I’ve been a Nazirite since the day I was born. A Nazirite is set apart to God. If you shave my head, I won’t be strong anymore. I’ll become as weak as any other man.”
  • Judges 16:18 - Delilah realized he had told her everything. So she sent a message to the Philistine rulers. She said, “Come back one more time. He has told me everything.” So the rulers returned. They brought the silver with them.
  • Judges 16:19 - Delilah got Samson to go to sleep on her lap. Then she called for someone to shave off the seven braids of his hair. That’s how she began to bring Samson under her control. And he wasn’t strong anymore.
  • Judges 16:20 - She called out, “Samson! The Philistines are attacking you!” He woke up from his sleep. He thought, “I’ll go out just as I did before. I’ll shake myself free.” But he didn’t know that the Lord had left him.
  • Ephesians 5:3 - There should not be even a hint of sexual sin among you. Don’t do anything impure. And do not always want more and more. These are not the things God’s holy people should do.
  • Ephesians 5:4 - There must not be any bad language or foolish talk or dirty jokes. They are out of place. Instead, you should give thanks.
  • 1 Kings 21:5 - His wife Jezebel came in. She asked him, “Why are you in such a bad mood? Why won’t you eat anything?”
  • 1 Kings 21:6 - He answered her, “Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said, ‘Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said, ‘I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”
  • 1 Kings 21:7 - His wife Jezebel said, “Is this how the king of Israel acts? Get up! Eat something! Cheer up. I’ll get you the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel.”
  • 1 Kings 21:8 - So she wrote some letters in Ahab’s name. She stamped them with his royal seal. Then she sent them to the elders and nobles who lived in the city where Naboth lived.
  • 1 Kings 21:9 - In those letters she wrote, “Announce a day when people are supposed to go without eating. Have Naboth sit in an important place among the people.
  • 1 Kings 21:10 - But put two worthless and evil men in seats across from him. Have them bring charges that he has cursed God and the king. Then take him out of the city. Kill him by throwing stones at him.”
  • 1 Kings 21:11 - So the elders and nobles who lived in that city did what Jezebel wanted. They did everything she directed in the letters she had written to them.
  • 1 Kings 21:12 - They announced a day of fasting. They had Naboth sit in an important place among the people.
  • 1 Kings 21:13 - Then two worthless and evil men came and sat across from him. They brought charges against Naboth in front of the people. The two men said, “Naboth has cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the city. They killed him by throwing stones at him.
  • 1 Kings 21:14 - Then they sent a message to Jezebel. They said, “Naboth is dead. We killed him by throwing stones at him.”
  • 1 Kings 21:15 - Jezebel heard that Naboth had been killed. As soon as she heard it, she said to Ahab, “Get up. Take over the vineyard of Naboth from Jezreel. It’s the one he wouldn’t sell to you. He isn’t alive anymore. He’s dead.”
  • Revelation 19:20 - But the beast and the false prophet were captured. The false prophet had done signs for the beast. In this way the false prophet had tricked some people. Those people had received the mark of the beast and had worshiped its statue. The beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the lake of fire. The lake of fire burns with sulfur.
  • Mark 14:55 - The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for something to use against Jesus. They wanted to put him to death. But they did not find any proof.
  • Mark 14:56 - Many witnesses lied about him. But their stories did not agree.
  • Mark 14:57 - Then some of them stood up. Here is what those false witnesses said about him.
  • 2 Chronicles 10:13 - The king answered them in a mean way. He didn’t accept the advice of the elders.
  • 2 Chronicles 10:14 - Instead, he followed the advice of the young men. He said, “My father put a heavy load on your shoulders. But I’ll make it even heavier. My father beat you with whips. But I’ll beat you with bigger whips.”
  • 2 Chronicles 10:15 - So the king didn’t listen to the people. That’s because God had planned it that way. What the Lord had said through Ahijah came true. Ahijah had spoken the Lord’s message to Jeroboam, the son of Nebat. Ahijah was from Shiloh.
  • 2 Chronicles 10:16 - All the Israelites saw that the king refused to listen to them. So they answered the king. They said, “We don’t have any share in David’s royal family. We don’t have any share in Jesse’s son. People of Israel, let’s go back to our homes. David’s royal family, take care of your own kingdom!” So all the Israelites went home.
  • 2 Samuel 13:26 - Then Absalom said, “If you won’t come, please let my brother Amnon come with us.” The king asked him, “Why should he go with you?”
  • 2 Samuel 13:27 - But Absalom begged him. So the king sent Amnon with him. He also sent the rest of his sons.
  • 2 Samuel 13:28 - Absalom ordered his men, “Listen! When Amnon has had too much wine to drink, I’ll say to you, ‘Strike Amnon down.’ When I do, kill him. Don’t be afraid. I’ve given you an order, haven’t I? Be strong and brave.”
  • 2 Samuel 13:29 - So Absalom’s men killed Amnon, just as Absalom had ordered. Then all the king’s sons got on their mules and rode away.
  • 2 Samuel 15:2 - He would get up early. He would stand by the side of the road that led to the city gate. Sometimes a person would come with a case for the king to decide. Then Absalom would call out to him, “What town are you from?” He would answer, “I’m from one of the tribes of Israel.”
  • 2 Samuel 15:3 - Absalom would say, “Look, your claims are based on the law. So you have every right to make them. But the king doesn’t have anyone here who can listen to your case.”
  • 2 Samuel 15:4 - Absalom would continue, “I wish I were appointed judge in the land! Then anyone who has a case or a claim could come to me. I would make sure they are treated fairly.”
  • 2 Samuel 15:5 - Sometimes people would approach Absalom and bow down to him. Then he would reach out his hand. He would take hold of them and kiss them.
  • 2 Samuel 15:6 - Absalom did that to all the Israelites who came to the king with their cases or claims. That’s why the hearts of the people were turned toward him.
  • Isaiah 30:27 - The Lord will come from far away in all his power and glory. He will show his burning anger. Thick clouds of smoke will be all around him. His mouth will speak angry words. The words from his tongue will be like a destroying fire.
  • Proverbs 6:19 - He hates any witness who pours out lies and anyone who stirs up conflict in the community.
  • Numbers 31:16 - “The women followed Balaam’s advice. They caused the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord. The people worshiped the god named Baal that was worshiped at Peor. So a plague struck them.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:9 - The coming of the man of sin will fit how Satan works. The man of sin will show his power through all kinds of signs and wonders. These signs and wonders will lead people astray.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:10 - So people who are dying will be fooled by this evil. These people are dying because they refuse to love the truth. The truth would save them.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:11 - So God will fool them completely. Then they will believe the lie.
  • 2 Thessalonians 2:12 - Many will not believe the truth. They will take pleasure in evil. They will be judged.
  • Proverbs 1:10 - My son, if sinful men tempt you, don’t give in to them.
  • Proverbs 1:11 - They might say, “Come along with us. Let’s hide and wait to kill someone who hasn’t done anything wrong. Let’s catch some harmless person in our trap.
  • Proverbs 1:12 - Let’s swallow them alive, as the grave does. Let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down into the pit.
  • Proverbs 1:13 - We’ll get all kinds of valuable things. We’ll fill our houses with what we steal.
  • Proverbs 1:14 - Cast lots with us for what they own. We’ll share everything we take from them.”
  • Titus 1:11 - They must be stopped. They are making trouble for entire families. They do this by teaching things they shouldn’t. They do these things to cheat people.
  • Revelation 13:14 - The first beast had given the second beast the power to perform these signs. By these signs, the second beast tricked those who live on the earth. The second beast ordered people to set up a statue to honor the first beast. The first beast was the one who had been wounded by a sword and still lived.
  • Jeremiah 20:10 - I hear many people whispering, “There is terror on every side! Bring charges against Jeremiah! Let’s bring charges against him!” All my friends are waiting for me to slip. They are saying, “Perhaps he will be tricked into making a mistake. Then we’ll win out over him. We’ll get even with him.”
  • Jeremiah 28:16 - So the Lord says, ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. Before this year is over, you will die. You have taught the people to turn against me.’ ”
  • 3 John 1:10 - So when I come, I will point out what he is doing. He is saying evil things that aren’t true about us. Even this doesn’t satisfy him. So he refuses to welcome other believers. He also keeps others from welcoming them. In fact, he throws them out of the church.
  • James 2:7 - Aren’t they speaking evil things against the worthy name of Jesus? Remember, you belong to him.
  • Jude 1:8 - In the very same way, these ungodly people act on their evil dreams. So they make their own bodies impure. They don’t accept authority. And they say evil things against heavenly beings.
  • Jude 1:9 - But even Michael, the leader of the angels, didn’t dare to say these things. He didn’t even say these things when he argued with the devil about the body of Moses. Michael didn’t dare to judge the devil. He didn’t say the devil was guilty of saying evil things. Instead, Michael said, “May the Lord judge you!”
  • Jude 1:10 - But these people say evil things against whatever they don’t understand. And the very things they do understand will destroy them. That’s because they are like wild animals that can’t think for themselves. Instead, they do what comes naturally to them.
  • Matthew 12:32 - Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven. But anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. A person like that won’t be forgiven either now or in days to come.
  • Matthew 12:33 - “If you make a tree good, its fruit will be good. If you make a tree bad, its fruit will be bad. You can tell a tree by its fruit.
  • Matthew 12:34 - You nest of poisonous snakes! How can you who are evil say anything good? Your mouths say everything that is in your hearts.
  • Matthew 12:35 - A good man says good things. These come from the good that is stored up inside him. An evil man says evil things. These come from the evil that is stored up inside him.
  • Matthew 12:36 - But here is what I tell you. On judgment day, everyone will have to account for every empty word they have spoken.
  • Proverbs 15:1 - A gentle answer turns anger away. But mean words stir up anger.
  • Matthew 15:11 - What goes into someone’s mouth does not make them ‘unclean.’ It’s what comes out of their mouth that makes them ‘unclean.’ ”
  • Matthew 15:12 - Then the disciples came to him. They asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were angry when they heard this?”
  • Matthew 15:13 - Jesus replied, “They are plants that my Father in heaven has not planted. They will be pulled up by the roots.
  • Matthew 15:14 - Leave the Pharisees. They are blind guides. If one blind person leads another blind person, both of them will fall into a pit.”
  • Matthew 15:15 - Peter said, “Explain this to us.”
  • Matthew 15:16 - “Don’t you understand yet?” Jesus asked them.
  • Matthew 15:17 - “Don’t you see? Everything that enters the mouth goes into the stomach. Then it goes out of the body.
  • Matthew 15:18 - But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart. Those are the things that make someone ‘unclean.’
  • Matthew 15:19 - Evil thoughts come out of a person’s heart. So do murder, adultery, and other sexual sins. And so do stealing, false witness, and telling lies about others.
  • Matthew 15:20 - Those are the things that make you ‘unclean.’ But eating without washing your hands does not make you ‘unclean.’ ”
  • Colossians 3:8 - But now here are the kinds of things you must also get rid of. You must get rid of anger, rage, hate and lies. Let no dirty words come out of your mouths.
  • Colossians 3:9 - Don’t lie to one another. You have gotten rid of your old way of life and its habits.
  • Mark 7:20 - He went on to say, “What comes out of a person is what makes them ‘unclean.’
  • Mark 7:21 - Evil thoughts come from the inside, from a person’s heart. So do sexual sins, stealing and murder.
  • Mark 7:22 - Adultery, greed, hate and cheating come from a person’s heart too. So do desires that are not pure, and wanting what belongs to others. And so do telling lies about others and being proud and being foolish.
  • Luke 16:24 - So the rich man called out, ‘Father Abraham! Have pity on me! Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water. Then he can cool my tongue with it. I am in terrible pain in this fire.’
  • Mark 7:15 - Nothing outside of a person can make them ‘unclean’ by going into them. It is what comes out of them that makes them ‘unclean.’ ”
  • Proverbs 16:27 - A worthless person plans to do evil things. Their words are like a burning fire.
  • Psalm 120:2 - Lord, save me from people whose lips tell lies. Save me from people whose tongues don’t tell the truth.
  • Psalm 120:3 - What will the Lord do to you, you lying tongue? And what more will he do?
