Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord.“ They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.In those days when you pray, I will listen.

So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold— though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.

But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’

I have refined you, but not as silver is refined. Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering.

All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.

They will not work in vain, and their children will not be doomed to misfortune. For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children, too, will be blessed.I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers!

You have declared today that the Lord is your God. And you have promised to walk in his ways, and to obey his decrees, commands, and regulations, and to do everything he tells you.The Lord has declared today that you are his people, his own special treasure, just as he promised, and that you must obey all his commands.And if you do, he will set you high above all the other nations he has made. Then you will receive praise, honor, and renown. You will be a nation that is holy to the Lord your God, just as he promised.”

Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.

You will be my people, and I will be your God.”

“ But who will be able to endure it when he comes? Who will be able to stand and face him when he appears? For he will be like a blazing fire that refines metal, or like a strong soap that bleaches clothes.He will sit like a refiner of silver, burning away the dross. He will purify the Levites, refining them like gold and silver, so that they may once again offer acceptable sacrifices to the Lord.

You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver.You captured us in your net and laid the burden of slavery on our backs.Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance.

“ I will strengthen Judah and save Israel; I will restore them because of my compassion. It will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the Lord their God, who will hear their cries.

“ In that day, I will answer,” says the Lord.“ I will answer the sky as it pleads for clouds. And the sky will answer the earth with rain.Then the earth will answer the thirsty cries of the grain, the grapevines, and the olive trees. And they in turn will answer,‘ Jezreel’—‘ God plants!’At that time I will plant a crop of Israelites and raise them for myself. I will show love to those I called‘ Not loved.’ And to those I called‘ Not my people,’ I will say,‘ Now you are my people.’ And they will reply,‘ You are our God!’”

“ But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel after those days,” says the Lord.“ I will put my instructions deep within them, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Jesus replied,“ Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.“ But now, as to whether there will be a resurrection of the dead— haven’t you ever read about this in the Scriptures? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said,‘ I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead.”

The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help.But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth.The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles.The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.

When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.

But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying,“ Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.”

“ Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died.

Jew and Gentile are the same in this respect. They have the same Lord, who gives generously to all who call on him.For“ Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

Fire tests the purity of silver and gold, but the Lord tests the heart.

God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, for some on Mount Zion in Jerusalem will escape, just as the Lord has said. These will be among the survivors whom the Lord has called.

I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people.

I will make my home among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have— Jesus Christ.Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials— gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.

I will bring them home again to live safely in Jerusalem. They will be my people, and I will be faithful and just toward them as their God.

Yes, joyful are those who live like this! Joyful indeed are those whose God is the Lord.

so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.

“ But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold.

“ But despite all this, I will not utterly reject or despise them while they are in exile in the land of their enemies. I will not cancel my covenant with them by wiping them out, for I am the Lord their God.For their sakes I will remember my ancient covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of all the nations, that I might be their God. I am the Lord.”

“ But now, listen to me, Jacob my servant, Israel my chosen one.The Lord who made you and helps you says: Do not be afraid, O Jacob, my servant, O dear Israel, my chosen one.For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children.They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank.Some will proudly claim,‘ I belong to the Lord.’ Others will say,‘ I am a descendant of Jacob.’ Some will write the Lord’s name on their hands and will take the name of Israel as their own.”This is what the Lord says— Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies:“ I am the First and the Last; there is no other God.

Then when you call, the Lord will answer.‘ Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.“ Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!

They will be my people, and I will be their God.

“ And you will live in Israel, the land I gave your ancestors long ago. You will be my people, and I will be your God.
