“ The Lord will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah.

“ I will save the houses in Judah first. The honor of David’s family line is great. So is the honor of those who live in Jerusalem. But their honor will not be greater than the honor of the rest of Judah.

“ And the Lord will give salvation to the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem may not surpass that of Judah.

“ The Lord will give victory to the rest of Judah first, before Jerusalem, so that the people of Jerusalem and the royal line of David will not have greater honor than the rest of Judah.

The Lord also will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be greater than Judah.

“ The Lord will save the tents of Judah first, so that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem shall not become greater than that of Judah.

Jehovah also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem be not magnified above Judah.

This is what the LORD says: I will certainly restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and show compassion on his dwellings. Every city will be rebuilt on its mound; every citadel will stand on its proper site.

The pride of mankind will be humbled, and human loftiness will be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted on that day.For a day belonging to the LORD of Armies is coming against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up— it will be humbled—against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up, against all the oaks of Bashan,against all the high mountains, against all the lofty hills,against every high tower, against every fortified wall,against every ship of Tarshish, and against every splendid sea vessel.The pride of mankind will be brought low, and human loftiness will be humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted on that day.

In that day I will restore the fallen shelter of David: I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,

For I said,“ Don’t let them rejoice over me— those who are arrogant toward me when I stumble.”

If you really want to appear superior to me and would use my disgrace as evidence against me,

Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By one of works? No, on the contrary, by a law of faith.

At that time Jesus said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants.Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.

It was annulled on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of the LORD.

Let those who rejoice at my misfortune be disgraced and humiliated; let those who exalt themselves over me be clothed with shame and reproach.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.We are afflicted in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair;we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed.We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be displayed in our body.For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’s sake, so that Jesus’s life may also be displayed in our mortal flesh.So then, death is at work in us, but life in you.

Then the Pharisees responded to them,“ Are you fooled too?Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed.”

Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world— what is viewed as nothing— to bring to nothing what is viewed as something,so that no one may boast in his presence.It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us— our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption—in order that, as it is written: Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.

The LORD of Armies planned it, to desecrate all its glorious beauty, to disgrace all the honored ones of the earth.

Now it is not an enemy who insults me— otherwise I could bear it; it is not a foe who rises up against me— otherwise I could hide from him.

He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts;he has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly.He has satisfied the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty.

“‘ This is what the LORD says: The wise person should not boast in his wisdom; the strong should not boast in his strength; the wealthy should not boast in his wealth.But the one who boasts should boast in this: that he understands and knows me— that I am the LORD, showing faithful love, justice, and righteousness on the earth, for I delight in these things. This is the LORD’s declaration.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?

So he answered me,“ This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:‘ Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD of Armies.

At that time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said,“ I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.
