But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth.

Where do wars and fightings among you come from? Don’t they come from your pleasures that war in your members?You lust, and don’t have. You murder and covet, and can’t obtain. You fight and make war. You don’t have, because you don’t ask.You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.

So I fed the flock of slaughter, especially the oppressed of the flock. I took for myself two staffs. The one I called“ Favor”, and the other I called“ Union”, and I fed the flock.

Then many will stumble, and will deliver up one another, and will hate one another.

For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed.

The envy also of Ephraim will depart, and those who persecute Judah will be cut off. Ephraim won’t envy Judah, and Judah won’t persecute Ephraim.

But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you don’t consume one another.

Then I said,“ I will not feed you. That which dies, let it die; and that which is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let those who are left eat each other’s flesh.”

When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying,“ We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them, and bring him into the barracks.
