Upon hearing this, the angel of the Lord prayed this prayer:“ O Lord of Heaven’s Armies, for seventy years now you have been angry with Jerusalem and the towns of Judah. How long until you again show mercy to them?”

於是耶和華的使者就回應說：「萬軍之耶和華啊，這七十年來你惱怒耶路撒冷和猶大各城，你不憐憫它們要到什麼時候呢？」

Then the angel of the Lord said,“ Lord Almighty, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?”

Then the angel of the Lord spoke up. He said,“ Lord, you rule over all. How long will you keep from showing your tender love to Jerusalem? How long will you keep it from the towns of Judah? You have been angry with them for 70 years.”

Then the angel of the Lord said,‘ O Lord of hosts, how long will you have no mercy on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, against which you have been angry these seventy years?’

Then the angel of the LORD responded,“ How long, LORD of Armies, will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that you have been angry with these seventy years?”

Then the angel of the Lord said,“ Lord of armies, how long will You take no pity on Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, with which You have been indignant for these seventy years?”

Then the Angel of the Lord answered and said,“ O Lord of hosts, how long will You not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which You were angry these seventy years?”

Then the angel of Jehovah answered and said, O Jehovah of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

Then the Angel of the Lord responded,“ How long, Lord of Hosts, will You withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that You have been angry with these 70 years?”

Then the angel of the LORD answered and said, O LORD of hosts, how long wilt thou not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?

The angel of the LORD then asked,“ LORD who rules over all, how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?”

Then Yahweh’s angel replied,“ O Yahweh of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?”

“ Say to all your people and your priests,‘ During these seventy years of exile, when you fasted and mourned in the summer and in early autumn, was it really for me that you were fasting?

This is what the Lord says:“ You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again.

During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years.

You will arise and have mercy on Jerusalem— and now is the time to pity her, now is the time you promised to help.

How long, O God, will you allow our enemies to insult you? Will you let them dishonor your name forever?

In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy he redeemed them. He lifted them up and carried them through all the years.

O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you.

Don’t be so angry with us, Lord. Please don’t remember our sins forever. Look at us, we pray, and see that we are all your people.Your holy cities are destroyed. Zion is a wilderness; yes, Jerusalem is a desolate ruin.The holy and beautiful Temple where our ancestors praised you has been burned down, and all the things of beauty are destroyed.After all this, Lord, must you still refuse to help us? Will you continue to be silent and punish us?

So the message of the Lord spoken through Jeremiah was fulfilled. The land finally enjoyed its Sabbath rest, lying desolate until the seventy years were fulfilled, just as the prophet had said.

“ See, I am sending an angel before you to protect you on your journey and lead you safely to the place I have prepared for you.Pay close attention to him, and obey his instructions. Do not rebel against him, for he is my representative, and he will not forgive your rebellion.But if you are careful to obey him, following all my instructions, then I will be an enemy to your enemies, and I will oppose those who oppose you.For my angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, and Jebusites, so you may live there. And I will destroy them completely.

The rider standing among the myrtle trees then explained,“ They are the ones the Lord has sent out to patrol the earth.”Then the other riders reported to the angel of the Lord, who was standing among the myrtle trees,“ We have been patrolling the earth, and the whole earth is at peace.”

In a vision during the night, I saw a man sitting on a red horse that was standing among some myrtle trees in a small valley. Behind him were riders on red, brown, and white horses.

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.

This entire land will become a desolate wasteland. Israel and her neighboring lands will serve the king of Babylon for seventy years.“ Then, after the seventy years of captivity are over, I will punish the king of Babylon and his people for their sins,” says the Lord.“ I will make the country of the Babylonians a wasteland forever.

They shouted to the Lord and said,“ O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?”
