蓋吾人從前亦昏昧悖逆、徬徨岐途、縱情恣慾、險狠媢嫉；己實可惡、而轉以惡人。

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

At one time we too acted like fools. We didn’t obey God. We were tricked. We were controlled by all kinds of desires and pleasures. We were full of evil. We wanted what belongs to others. People hated us, and we hated one another.

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other.

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, enslaved by various passions and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, detesting one another.

And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in[ your] mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;That he no longer should live the rest of[ his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.For the time past of[ our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and[ then] to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and[ that] I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest[ there be] debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.

For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion[ is] vain.

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am[ Christ]; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say,[ Is there] not a lie in my right hand?

And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation[ is] high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by[ the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

What then? are we better[ than they]? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.Their throat[ is] an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps[ is] under their lips:Whose mouth[ is] full of cursing and bitterness:Their feet[ are] swift to shed blood:Destruction and misery[ are] in their ways:And the way of peace have they not known:There is no fear of God before their eyes.Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law[ is] the knowledge of sin.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest:[ it is] hard for thee to kick against the pricks.And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord[ said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.
